Sunday Briefing: Daniel Strelitz Wins PokerStars Sunday Grand

The 2016 Spring Championship Of Online Poker (SCOOP) kicked off on Sunday with the first handful of 55 scheduled events, and while those opening events are still in play, due to being two-day tournaments, there were still some massive scores enjoyed by online poker tournament players over the course of Sunday.

One of the largest scores of the weekend is now in the PokerStars account of Daniel "deoxyribo" Strelitz, who topped a field of 555 in the $1,050 Sunday Grind to claim the $104,340 first-place prize. Strelitz defeated Spain's Oscar "MendaLerenda" Serradell heads-up for the title, with the Spaniard banking the $76,035 runner-up prize.

Earlier in the day, Fedor "CrownUpGuy" Holz won the $215 Bounty Builder for $19,042.77, and Germany's "The_Stro_Sho" helping themselves to their largest-ever online cash by winning the Big $109 for a $35,568.31 first-place prize.

Others in the winner's circle at PokerStars this Sunday include:

  • “kostinio83" — winner of the $109 Bounty Builder for $17,026.02
  • "rompsa" — winner of the Hot $109 for $25,508.46
  • Vitor "VitinhO Dzi" Hugo Dzivielevski — winner of the Big $215 for $32,445.03
  • Michael "imluckbox" Addamo — winner of the $700 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Max SCOOP-05-H for $142,465.22
  • "Simon Sun" — winner of the $109 Sunday Cooldown for $28,656.80
  • Jamie "Ship It 2010" O’Connor — winner of the $215 Sunday Supersonic for $33,483.21
  • Pablo "gordiju" Gordillo — winner of the Hot $215 for $15,730.43

Conor Beresford Wins the partypoker Super High Roller

The United Kingdom's Conor "LarryErbs" Beresford was a big winner at partypoker this weekend thanks to winning the $2,600 Super High Roller. Ninety-four players bought in and created a $235,000 prize pool, $64,109.41 of which now belongs to Beresford.

Partypoker's other High Roller, a $530 buy-in event, was taken down by Finland's Tomi "wellyxx" Brouk, who banked $38,391.55 after a heads-up chop with Anton "Antes08" Wigg. Wigg walked away with $36,089.46.

Former world No. 3 for online poker tournaments, "myst_elbarto", better-known as "breeth", won the $109 Main Event for $25,451.97, while Frederik "Brink82" Jensen added $13,606.83 to his lifetime winnings by triumphing in the $109 Weigh-In.

"DACOCOR" Punches Through the Brawl at Full Tilt

Germany’s "DACOCOR" finished as the last player standing in the Full Tilt Sunday Brawl, eliminating 12 opponents on his way to collecting a combined $6,530.53. Sweden's "Frysboxen" won this week's Sunday Major for $8,800.

Finn Captures the 888poker Baby Whale

888poker upped a number of its guarantees this week to coincide with SCOOP, one of them being the $120,000 Baby Whale. Finland's "tikkapekka" was crowned its champion, turning $320 into $27,360 by outlasting 479 opponents.

The $150,000 Mega Deep saw a German victor in the shape of "streusalz", who topped a field of 851 players to secure a $30,806.20 payday for himself, while the $60,000 Turbo Mega Deep was chopped heads-up by Sweden's "tutten7" and Ukraine's "GangstaGo". Those two scooped $10,917.56 and $10,949.54, respectively.

Lastly, a shout out to Australia's "poker_mom74" for winning the $110,000 Sunday Challenge, turning $90 into $20,770.56.
