UK & Ireland PokerNews Round-Up

It's that time of week again, the time when we take a look at the most popular stories from our UK & Ireland PokerNews site. Want to get up to speed with the past week's goings on? Then keep on reading!

The week began with our UK & Ireland-focused Sunday Briefing, which takes a look at the biggest scores enjoyed by players from the UK and Ireland in the various Sunday majors.

Matthew Davenport hit the headlines in this week's report thanks to navigating his way to fifth place in the PokerStars Sunday Million and securing $58,416.80, only days after finishing third in the partypoker World Poker Tour Vienna Main Event for €70,800.

Although impressive, Davenport's score was not the largest by one of our players this past week, because Daniel "NukeTheFish!" Wilson ensured that the 2016 Irish Open trophy stay on home soil by winning the Main Event for €150,000. Wilson is currently second in the Irish online poker rankings, trailing only Kevin "SuitedAcesBaby" Killeen.

Speaking of the online rankings, the UK's Conor "1_conor_b_1" Beresford is in hot form and has climbed to second in the UK as a result, not only that but he is now knocking on the door of a worldwide top-10 spot as he currently resides in 13th place, a career high for the youngster.

Moving back to the live poker world now and we took a look at which major live tournaments are scheduled in the UK and Ireland during the month of April. There are at least 20 for players to get their teeth into so expect several reports from those events in the coming month.

One of those major events taking place in April is the eagerly anticipated 2016 UK Student Poker Championships, which features nine events including a £220 High Roller and a £36 Main Event, the latter attracting 801 entries in 2015 and expected to be larger this time around.
