He has sported the patches of Matchbook, Titan Poker and Everest Poker during his illustrious career, but now Sam Trickett has undertaken a new ambassador role.

"I'm happy to confirm that I am the new Poker Brand Ambassador for the top Indian online poker room Starpoker.in for India," said Trickett in press release published on the New Indian Express newspaper. "I am excited to represent the Indian poker industry's authentic poker brand and look forward to promoting poker in India alongside the Starpoker.in team and to interacting with our players online as well."

He is going to be a very valuable addition to the Starpoker.in team. We are very proud to welcome him into the Starpoker.in fold.

Starpoker.in is an India-facing online poker powered by Cyber Gaming Technologies that offers legal real money poker to Indian players. It claims to offer a "complete and holistic poker platform" to its players, and host both cash games and tournaments.

Speaking of signing the superstar that is Trickett, Lina Wang, Marketing Director of Starpoker.in, said: "Sam is an amazing player and a wonderful human being. Having played with him in the past, both live and online, I can safely say that there is no doubt about his superb poker playing skills. But what sets him apart from the crowd is his determination and willingness to make every hand count. He is going to be a very valuable addition to the Starpoker.in team. We are very proud to welcome him into the Starpoker.in fold."

Securing Trickett for the poker brand ambassador role is a major coup for Starpoker.in as Trickett is one of the most familiar faces in the industry. Having turned to poker when his football career was ended with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, Trickett has gone on to win millions of dollars playing tournaments and cash games around the globe.

Trickett already had a glowing reputation before he won the 2008 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) Luton Main Event and was on most people’s radars when he was the runner-up to Jason DeWitt in a $5,000 no-limit hold’em event at the 2010 World Series of Poker.

Since those results, Trickett’s rise has been one to marvel at.

At the 2011 Aussie Millions, Trickett won almost A$3,000,000 by taking down the $100,500 High Roller and finishing second in the A$250,000 Super High Roller. Add to the mix his win in the 2011 Partouche Poker Tour Main Event for €1,000,000, a victory in the 2013 Aussie Millions A$250,000 Challenge for A$2,000,000 and it is easy to see why Trickett is both respected and feared at the felt.

Trickett’s most famous tournament score came at the 2012 WSOP when he finished as runner-up to Antonio Esfandiari in the inaugural $1,000,000 buy-in Big One for One Drop. It was a result that netted Trickett $10,112,001 and sent him soaring up the all-time money listing; he currently tops the United Kingdom list and is seventh in the worldwide all-time money rankings.
