The Mid-States Poker Tour has taken to FireKeepers Casino in Battle Creek, Michigan, and tomorrow marks the kick off of the $200,000 guaranteed Main Event. With a buy-in of $1,100 and three separate starting flights, at 4 p.m. on Thursday and then noon on Friday and Saturday, a large field of competitors are expected for what is the fifth-to-last event on the 2014 MSPT schedule.

With qualifiers running since Oct. 11, anticipation is high for the prize pool to eclipse the $200,000 guarantee with ease. At the last MSPT event held at FireKeepers back in May, 411 entrants participated before Jason Zarlenga went on to claim $101,482 in first-place prize money.

The PokerNews Live Reporting team will be on hand from the first "shuffle up and deal" to the last river card, and you follow all of the action via our PokerNews Live Reporting pages. Updates will come complete with hand histories, chip counts, pictures, and results.

Heading into this event, Michael Deis, the player who finished runner-up to Zarlenga last time at FireKeepers, leads the 2014 MSPT Player of the Year race with 3,350 points. He's trailed by Zarlenga and Kou Vang with 3,100 each, and then MSPT Pro Blake Bohn (2,700) and Kenneth Payne (2,450) round out the top five. At the end of the year, the winner will receive the MSPT Player of the Year title and a $250 non-transferable qualifier buy-in to every MSPT event the following season.
