Season 8 Schedule Announced for APPT Macau 0001

On Wednesday, April 2, 2014, the PokerStars.net Asia-Pacific Poker Tour announced the Season 8 schedule for APPT Macau. The festival will take place May 14-25, 2014, and be held at PokerStars LIVE Macau at the City of Dreams.

The series will kickoff with three Main Event Satellites taking place on Wednesday, May 14. Then on Thursday, May 15, the action really heats up with the first official event taking place, an HK$1,500 buy-in knockout bounty tournament.

The schedule is highlighted by three events: the HK$5,000 APPT Macau Warm-Up, the HK$25,000 Main Event, and the HK$100,000 High Roller. The Warm-Up will take place May 17-18 and boast an HK$1,000,000 guarantee. The Main Event will run May 21-25, and the High Roller will run May 24-25.

"PokerStars LIVE Macau has been breaking records all year long. Players are telling us that they love these events, and this is demonstrated in the huge number of players that are taking part." said Danny McDonagh, PokerStars Director of Live Poker Events. "MPC20, the Platinum Series III, and Macau Millions have all hit new highs and the team has every reason to believe that this will be the biggest ever APPT Macau as well."

According to the release from PokerStars, last year the APPT Macau festival "awarded HK$17,728,424 in prize money to 1,887 players across 11 cash tournaments."

One can expect those impressive numbers to once again hold true, if not improve. Recently, PokerStars LIVE Macau shattered the record for largest live tournament field in Asia by a wide margin. The last installment of the Macau Millions surpassed the old record of 1,329 entries set in 2011 by nearly 500 entries, and the new record was been set at 1,804.
