Five Strategies to Crush Poker Tournaments

Tournament poker seems simple when everything is clicking and you are on the better end of flips. However, if you have been playing poker for a while, at the end of the day you know the best players with the best strategies are the ones who are consistently winning poker tournaments.

With this in mind, partypoker's Marvin Rettenmaier gives his five most successful tournament strategies. Not all these strategies are just about winning, but some are about just maximizing the position you are in. One of the most important tips is knowing when to stall. Stalling isn't glamorous but sometimes gets the job done.

Stalling can not only be important in certain spots such as the bubble in normal tournaments but even more so in satellites where the object of the game isn't to win but just to not lose. This goes hand in hand with another tip where Rettenmaier suggests to keep an eye on other tables.

Head to the partypoker blog to read about all five of Rettenmaier's helpful poker tournament strategy tips.

Win a WPT World Championship Package in the Steps Challenge

The WPT World Championship is an exclusive event where you can compete against prior WPT winners and other world-class players for huge prizes. This year's event features a huge $15,300 buy-in and takes place at the Borgata Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, NJ from April 21 through April 26.

Partypoker understands most poker players can't afford this huge buy-in and wants to give you a chance to play in the event without declaring bankruptcy. The WPT Steps Challenge contains six steps with the first step starting out at just $1! For every step you win, you go on to the next step where eventually you will be playing for a WPT World Championship package. You can also directly buy into any higher step if you do not want to start at the bottom.

If you don't want to invest any cash and still have a shot at playing in this year's prestigious event, you can enter a step 0 sit-and-go which only costs 10 party points! Click here for more information about the WPT Steps Challenge.

Three Amazing Players Never to Win a Live Major

If you haven't won a major live tournament, don't feel too bad since you are in good company. In fact, many of the top poker pros despite their success and superior talent have also struggled to win a ring or bracelet in a major event.

Chris Moorman, who has over $10 million in tournament cashes, just got the monkey off his back when he won the World Poker Tour L.A. Poker Classic earlier this month.

While there are many other professionals that have yet to win a major live tournament, partypoker highlights three of the most prolific poker players yet to do so - Martin Jacobson, Shannon Shorr, and Joseph Cheong. All three of these players are household names and the partypoker blog describes each of their many achievements in much detail. Maybe this we will see one or more of these otherwise very successful players break through with a huge live win in a major event.
