As the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Eventcame to a close on Monday, so too did the WSOP.com Online Championships in Nevada. The inaugural series featured nine events, culminating with a $215 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em Main Event with $75,000 added to the prize pool. With $168,000 up for grabs, it was "l4mmervinn20" who took home the gold for $41,000, the largest prize awarded in an open event in Nevada since the legalization of online poker in the state.
The series concluded with the "Online Nine," a $100,000 championship freeroll that included each of the winners from the nine-event tournament series. The players competed in a special sit-n-go down at the Penn & Teller Theater before the heads-up match between Ryan Riess and Jay Farber on Monday. In the end, it was Matthew "RetiredNavy" Wilson who took the top prize of $50,000 after defeating Matt "xxDVDxx" Schultz, who took second place for $30,000.
