WSOP.com Hosts First Major Sunday Tournament 0001

Last week, 888 and Caesars launched WSOP.com for real-money online play. Just a few days following the launch, the site held its first major Sunday online tournament with the $15,000 Weekly Sunday Guarantee.

The buy-in for the event was $215 and attracted 70 players, which means it fell $1,000 short of the guarantee so there was a slight overlay. The top ten places paid out, and it was "NICKKK" who emerged victorious for the top prize of $4,350. The tournament lasted five hours and 53 minutes.

A few months ago, WSOP.com's leading competitor in the state of Nevada, Ultimate Poker, held its first Sunday major. The Ultimate Poker event, which had a $10,000 guaranteed prize pool and featured a $100 buy-in, reached its cap of 200 players and generated a prize pool of $18,200 — a hefty $8,200 clear of the guarantee.
