FTOPS Day 6: Brandon "norajean" Meyers Wins Event #12 for $40,907
The Full Tilt continued Friday with two more events from the 35-event schedule — Event #12 $216 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Max and Event #13 $322 2-7 Triple Draw Six-Max.
Poker pro Brandon "norajean" Meyers was the biggest earner on Friday for his victory in Event #12. Meyers, who moved from Las Vegas to Mexico last year, collected more than $40,000 and his first FTOPS gold jersey. He now has victories in FTOPS and MiniFTOPS events; his victory in a $26 MiniFTOPS event in 2010 netted him $49,198.
Friday's win vaulted Meyers into the top 10 of the Full Tilt. He sits in 10th place with 261 points, still a ways behind points leader "mrcall912" (431 points).
Here’s a summary of Friday's tournaments:
Event #12: $216 Limit Hold'em Rush Multi-Entry
Event #12 easily surpassed its $150,000 guaranteed prize pool as 981 players generated a prize pool of $196,200. Several notables made deep runs, including Damian Salas (10th — $2,943), Bryan "bparis" Paris (15th — $1,569), Aaron "aguskb" Gustavson (21st — $1,059), and Luke "IWEARGOGGLES" Staudenmaier (28th — $882).
But in the end it was Meyers who stole the show. At a six-handed final table that included four players from The Netherlands, Meyers represented his new home of Mexico by defeating "ydere" heads-up to win the $40,907 top prize and the FTOPS gold jersey. He made his victory known on Twitter shortly after he took it down:
