FTOPS XXI

Three more events from the Full Tilt 35-event schedule concluded Tuesday and saw “Mikleler”, “mrcall912” and “errr_rick” add their names to the champions list, which already includes Michael "doneNdusted84" Kanaan and João “joaosimaobh” Simão.

With seven events in the books, the FTOPS XXI is already a fifth of the way over, and currently, two men are tied atop the Full Tilt with 300 points each — Jeremiah “Believer8219” Vinsant and “fowirls”. The latter won Event #3: $1,060 No-Limit Hold’em Multi-Entry for $149,950 and took 94th in Event #1 $216 No-Limit Hold’em Multi-Entry for $931.94 while the former has a sixth-place finish in Event #2 $216 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo Six-Max, 15th in Event #3 $1,060 No-Limit Hold’em Multi-Entry for $5,287.50, and a 13th-place finish in Event #5 Pot-Limit HA (Hold’em/Omaha High) 6-Max for $1,050.

Here’s a summary of Tuesday’s tournaments:

FTOPS XXI Event #5 Pot-Limit HA (Hold’em/Omaha High) 6-Max

Event #5 Pot-Limit HA 6-Max became the first event of this year’s FTOPS that didn’t surpass its guarantee of $100,000. Instead, it fell five players short as 495 ponied up the $216 buy-in to test their skills in the first mixed event on the schedule.

Of course, the aforementioned Vinsant cashed in the event with a 13th-place finish, but he wasn’t the only notable to earn a payday. The other notables included Alex “PostflopAction” Kostritsyn (43rd - $450), Kevin “-1SickDisease-“ Eyster (33rd - $550) and Brandon “norajean” Meyers (20th - $700). All finished in the money. Another player with a deep run was Jacob “bazeman” Bazeley, who ultimately left disappointed in seventh place as the final table bubble boy with a $2,300 consolation prize.

In the end, a heads-up deal was made at the final table between “TheKoalabear” and “Mikleler”, a deal that saw the former finish with a little bit more money, but the latter walk away with the title.

Full Tilt FTOPS XXI Event #6 H.O.R.S.E.

Mixed games seemed to be the order of the day on Full Tilt Poker as an impressive 377 players turned out for Event #6 $216 H.O.R.S.E. and smashed the $25,000 guarantee by creating a prize pool of $75,400.

As far as notables were concerned, Brazil’s Thiago “DecanoBR” Nishijima (39th - $527.80) managed a min-cash, while Paul “paulgees81” Volpe went a bit deeper and finish in 31st for $565.50. It’s also worth noting that Chance “Chances Cards” Kornuth, who finished sixth in Event #4 $216 No-Limit Hold’em Rush Turbo on Monday, notched his second cash of the FTOPS XXI when he finished in 15th place for $791.70.

The biggest notable to make the final table was David “betudontbet” Emmons, though he made his exit in seventh place for a paltry $1,885, a far cry from the $18,699.20 award to the eventual winner, “mrcall912”.

Full Tilt FTOPS XXI Event #7 NLHE Super Turbo Knockout Multi-Entry

Event #7 $322 NLHE Super Turbo Knockout Multi-Entry was another tournament to exceed expectations, drawing 1,391 players to create a prize pool of $361,660 — more than double the $150,000 guarantee. Super Turbo Knockout Multi-Entry tournaments have proven popular on FTP, so it was no surprise to see the sharks turn out in force. They included Simão (122nd - $488.24), Joao Barbosa (82nd - $560.57), Raul Paez (71st - $669.07), Mike “SirWatts” Watson (38th - $940.32), Pascal “Pass Lefrancois” Lefrancois (31st - $1,084.98) and Jordan “Jymaster11” Young (17th - $1,573.22).

While all of those pros had good showing, Bryan “enterthewu19” Piccioli did the best among the notables, finishing in fourth place for $29,384.87. In the end, a Finn-versus-German heads-up match played out, with Finland’s “errr_rick” defeating Germany’s “Tom1211HH” to claim the gold jersey and $79,565.20 first-place prize.
