Dwan, Cates and Laak Join PartyPoker.com Premier League V Lineup
Tom “durrrr” Dwan, Daniel “Jungleman” Cates and Phil “The Unabomber” Laak have confirmed that they will be participating in the PartyPoker Premier League V in Vienna from April 4 through 10. They will be joining Patrik Antonius, Tony G, Luke Schwartz, Vanessa Selbst, Sam Trickett and Andy Frankenberger for the $125,000 buy-in event!
“The Big Game, Premier League, and a WPT event all in one place and all at one time?!?! Vienna here we come,” Laak told the PartyPoker Blog. “The Big Game is a 48-hour cash game you say? Well then, I had better stay up for two days before we get started — otherwise it just wouldn’t be fair.”
According to a PartyPoker Premier League V press release, the event will “feature 16 players split up into two groups of eight in the Main Event, each competing in four league matches showcasing the famous point system ($2,000 per point). The top three from each group will automatically go through to the final table, while the fourth and fifth seeds will square off in a series of heads-up matches (best of three) for spots in the eight-handed finale. This WPT special event boasts a massive $200,000 added for the final table and awards the winner with entry into the $25,500 2012 WPT World Championship, running 19th to 26th May at Bellagio in Las Vegas.”
Four hours of each heat will air in the U.K. on SkySports, followed by international distribution. Kara Scott will present the coverage, which is produced by Matchroom Sport.
In addition, the €3,200+€300 WPT Vienna Main Event presented by PartyPoker.com will follow the Premier League from April 10 through 15, as will the PartyPoker.com Big Game VI from the 11 through 13. The Big Game VI will run for 48 hours, right in the middle of the WPT Vienna Main Event, and will be televised.
Not only will the PartyPoker Premier League V feature an all-star lineup, two players will get the chance to play the event by qualifying through satellites, which are currently running in the PartyPoker lobby. Up until midnight of March 18, satellites are running that will award $13,000 packages to the Premier League qualification rounds! There are nine packages in total and each package consists of:
