The Sunday Briefing: 2011 Online Poker Sunday Season Ends

The 2011 Sunday Major season on PokerStars came to an end Sunday with three players enjoying six-figure scores on Christmas. The biggest went to "||Burkeeee!," who collected nearly $200,000 for winning the Sunday Million. Among those to lock up first-place finishes throughout the Sunday Majors were Elad "Gambit360" Nosimaj and Luke "Bananazoo" Chiciak.

PokerStars Sunday Million ($1M Guaranteed)

The Sunday Million attracted a 6,982-player field, creating a $1,396,400 prize pool. It was little surprise that "JackobFish" was made it to heads-up play, since he began the final table with a sizable chip lead. And "||Burkeeee!" began in the middle of the pack, but was on the right end of a few key hands to make it to heads-up play.

On the 45th hand of heads-up play, at 700,000/1,400,000/140,000, "||Burkeeee!" (45.5m) opened with a min-raise to 2.8 million on the button. "JackobFish" (24.3m) shoved from the big blind holding Q♠10♠. "||Burkeeee!" tanked, but ultimately called with A♠7♠ and held a slight lead. The board ran out J♠J♥5♠4♣2♣ to seal the deal for "||Burkeeee!."

PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up ($500K Guaranteed)

The $200+$15 Sunday Warm-Up attracted 2,700 entrants, creating a $540,000 prize pool. There was no deal made at the final table of the Sunday Warm-Up and the two players who entered the final table at the top of the counts found themselves playing heads-up.

Starting the duel nearly even in chips, "crossthervr" bested "elik567." On the final hand, "elik567" got it in with A♣5♠, but ran into "crossthervr's" A♥10♥. The board came down Q♥7♦6♣K♣10♠ to secure the victory, and $85,050 for "crossthervr."

Notable Finishes: Jeff "jeff710" Hakim (24th - $1,485), Vicky Coren (40th - $1,134)

PokerStars Sunday 500 ($250K Guaranteed)

The Sunday 500 drew a field of 637, eclipsing its guarantee. Following a heads-up deal, Luke "Bananazoo" Chiciak came out on top with the victory, and $52,034.28 prize.

PokerStars Bigger $55 ($200K Guaranteed)

The Bigger $55 drew an impressive field of 5,538. A four-handed deal was worked out at the final table and in the end, "gurskiyy" emerged victorious, winning more than $34,000.

PokerStars Bigger $109 ($100K Guaranteed)

The Bigger $109 more than doubled its guarantee on Sunday. The 2,244 players created a prize pool of $224,400. The tournament was won outright by "stknsidewayz" for more than $38,000.

Notable Finishes: Justin "truesyalose" Truesdell (22nd - $673.20)

PokerStars Bigger $162 ($100K Guaranteed)

The Bigger $162 came close to doubling its guarantee, after drawing a solid field of 1,303. Another heads-up deal went down and "allintim1984" emerged victorious for $32,988.

PokerStars Sunday 2nd Chance ($125K Guaranteed)

As usual, the Sunday 2nd Chance crushed its guarantee, and wasn't all that far from doubling it. "Trappa 105" bested the 1,106-player field and pocketed $39,816.

Notable Finishes: Caio "caio_pimenta" Pimenta (26th - $995.40)

PokerStars $109 Sunday Rebuy ($200K Guaranteed)

The $109 Sunday Rebuy attracted 729 entrants. The $100+$9 buy-in event boasted a prize pool of $232,300. Elad "Gambit360" Nosimaj found himself with all the chips at the end, and the lion's share of the prize pool — $43,672.40.

Notable Finishes: Pablo "pabritz" Brito (14th - $2,206.85)

PokerStars Sunday Storm ($200K Guaranteed)

It was business as usual in the Sunday Storm as it drew its standard 30,000-plus participants. After a six-handed deal, "Baltini" was the sole survivor of the massive field, and took home $14,161.30.

PokerStars Sunday Kickoff ($75K Guaranteed)

The majors were started by the Sunday Kickoff, which drew 1,094 players, creating a prize pool of $109,400. After a heads-up deal, "DimaKondurov" bested Ari "BodogAri" Engel to take the title and $17,016.92 first-place prize.
