PokerStars 10th Anniversary

For the past few weeks, the celebration of PokerStars' 10th Anniversary has set records and has offered amazing tournaments on the virtual felt. Sunday brought the biggest of them all as the Sunday Million was upped from its $1.5 Million guarantee to an incredible $10 Million guarantee. As of Saturday night, there were only 16,000 people registered. However, when all was said and done, more than 62,000 people entered to create the largest Sunday Million in PokerStars' history.

The first to depart the final table was short-stacked "yokouno1980". Down to less than two big blinds, "yokouno1980" called all-in with A4, but was unable to best Mark "tunafish919" Saber's 1010 to exit in ninth place. Two hands later, "kaalen" shoved for just more than five big blinds with Q8. Kyle "First-Eagle" Weir called with KQ and help up through the Q93QJ board to score the elimination. Six hands later Weir was back at it. From middle position, "fireballdio" moved all-in for six big blinds with J10. Holding AQ, Weir isolated on the button and took it down when the board ran out 654AQ.

The remaining six players decided to talk about a deal and after a bit of tweaking for 35 minutes, terms were agreed upon. There was $200,000 still left to be played for, and within a half hour, it would be decided. Tristan "SkunkDen" Bain three-bet shoved all-in from the small blind for 13 big blinds, but ran smack into "Dimedroll's" AA in the big blind. No miracle saved Bain, who went out in sixth place. "Dimedroll", though, took a bad beat with AQ as it failed to hold against Saber's A10. A few hands later, "Dimedroll" ran J7 into the AA held by Weir to hit the rail in fifth place.

The two big stacks got into shortly thereafter. Following a series of raises, Weir was all-in with QQ against Saber's 1010. The queens held up, putting Saber on the short stack. Although he managed to double up once, he soon ran A7 into Weir's KK. No help arrived on the board, ending Saber's run in fourth place. Four hands later, "BLAABAR" shoved a 17-big-blind stack into the middle with A10 and was looked up by Weir with 44. The 4 hit the flop and "BLAABAR" couldn't catch up, ending his run in third place.

With nearly a 10-to-1 chip lead, Weir made quick work of "Unstoffable." While "Unstoffable" managed to double up once, Weir was not to be denied. On the final hand, the two players saw a 1085 flop and proceeded to get it in. Weir, with A3, was in nice shape to fade "Unstoffable's" 62. The 4 turn and 4 river locked it up for Weir, who earned an outstanding $1,146,574.65.

As you would imagine, the field in the $10,000 High-Roller tournament was absolutely stacked and the final table did not disappoint. Here were the chip stacks at the start:

3Andrey "Chaaai" Saenko274,124

7Keven "Stammdogg" Stammen187,048
8Grayson "gray31" Ramage278,532
9Greenstone2553,377

It took only six hands for the first casualty of the final table to take place. Short-stacked "Greenstone25" got it in for about 18 big blinds with JJ and faced Joey "jcl87" Lawrence's AK. An ace hit the flop, spelling the end of "Greenstone25's" run. With eight players remaining, Grayson "gray31" Ramage took the lead when he eliminated Dan "djk123" Kelly, who had been chip leader for a good few hours leading up to the final table. At the 1,500/3,000/375 level, Kelly (170k) opened with a min-raise to 6,000 in the cutoff. Ramage (258k) three-bet to 15,678 on the button, getting the blinds to release. Kelly, though, wasn't going anywhere as he four-bet to 28,662. Ramage mulled it over before five-betting to 49,876. Into the tank went Kelly who after a few moments six-bet shoved. Ramage called with AQ, flipping with Kelly's JJ. A Q103 flop paired Ramage to give him the lead. The 8 turn added flush and straight outs for Kelly, but the 3 river sent him to the rail in eighth place.

The next to depart was "montecarlo13," doing so after getting his stack in for 18 big blinds with AK against Chris "ImDaNuts" Oliver's 1010. The board ran out eight-high to leave just six players remaining. It was then when Joey "jcl87" Lawrence made his move to the top of the leaderboard. After taking down a nice pot against Ramage, Lawrence eliminated Oliver. In a battle of the blinds at the 2,000/4,000/500 level, Lawrence (499k) raised to 10,000. Oliver (234k) re-popped it to 18,999, but Lawrence put in a four-bet to 42,750. Oliver responded with a five-bet shove and Lawrence called quickly with AK. Oliver tabled 33, but fell when the board ran out K85J8.

Andrey "Chaaai" Saenko (229k) busted in fifth place after min-raising to 10,000 when the blinds and antes were 2,500/5,000/625. Keven "Stammdogg" Stammen (412k) called on the button and Ramage (311k) called from the small blind. The flop fell K97 and Ramage checked. Saenko bet 19,625, but saw Stammen raise to 49,775. Ramage ducked out of the way, while Saenko re-raised to 82,500. Stammen shoved, leading Saenko to call all-in for his remaning 137,244 with AA. Stammen outflopped him with 99 and his set held up through the 5 turn and 6 river.

Ashley "DYBYDX" Mason, winner of the$10,000 High-Roller World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) event in September, fell in fourth place. Still at 2,500/5,000/625, Ramage (246k) opened to 10,285 in the cutoff. Mason (264k) was on the button and he three-bet to 23,105, getting the blinds to fold. Ramage re-raised to 48,765, but Mason responded with a five-bet shove. Ramage called all-in with AQ, leading Mason's K7. The flop came down 754, which gave Mason the lead. However, the Q hit the turn to put Ramage back in front. The 8 river was no help to Mason, who busted two hands later in fourth place.

Three-handed play lasted about 35 minutes before Stammen exited in third place. On the button, Stammen (235k) opened to 14,225 at 3,000/6,000/750. Lawrence (820k) called from the big blind and the flop came down 988. Lawrence checked, Stammen bet 16,225, and Lawrence raised to 38,765. An all-in shove was Stammen's final move as Lawrence called with A10. Stammen was ahead with QQ, but was not able to hold through the 6 turn and 7 river, ending his tournament in third place.

The chip counts to start heads-up play were the following:

Joey "jcl87" Lawrence: 1,060,210
Grayson "gray31" Ramage: 809,790

The two players immediately agreed to look at numbers during their first hand; however, the tournament was not paused until after the second hand. Well, there was no third hand. At the the 7,000/14,000/875 level, Lawrence min-raised to 14,000 on the button. Ramage three-bet to 39,876 from the big blind, Lawrence called, and the flop fell 984. Keeping up the heat, Ramage bet 38,765. Lawrence, though, came over the top to 100,500. Not to be outdone, Ramage re-raised to 234,567. Enough of that said Lawrence, who shoved with the bigger stack. Ramage called all-in for his remaining 542,347 with AK, needing to catch a spade to top Lawrence's K7. The J turn followed by the A river did not get it done for Ramage, securing the victory for Lawrence.
