UBOC5: “ANTESVANTE” & “DIVERTER” Excel in Event #3
The Ultimate Bet Online Poker Championship Series 5 continued Thursday with Event #3 No-Limit Hold’em 4-Max, hosted simultaneously as its Mini-UBOC version. To the winner would go the title, a nice payday and a UB championship watch. Making the competition even more enticing, UB offers anyone who eliminates a team pro $200 in tournament dollars along with a UBOC T-shirt.
The third event of UBOC5, $300 + $20 No-Limit Hold’em 4-Max, which drew 359 entrants, was hosted by Adam “Roothlus” Levy. The entrants included some established UB pros — Levy (207th), Brandon Cantu (229th), Mark “Poker Ho” Kroon (228th) and Scott Ian (66th). Unfortunately, none of them could get anything going and were eliminated before the money. In the end, the final table saw “ANTESVANTE” enter with a commanding chip lead:
ELIASHARRIS - 95,000
James “TIGGER2” Kilarjian - 224,000
“ANTESVANTE” - 589,000
Jesse “TOOHOTTOTROT” Haabak - 172,000
ELIASHARRIS entered the final table as the short-stack and it didn’t take long before he became the first casualty. In just the second hand, ELIASHARRIS raised to 8,000 and TOOHOTTOTROT made it 21,000 to go. After TIGGER2 got out of the way, ANTESVANTE popped it to 51,444, ELIASHARRIS moved all-in for a total of 89,113, TOOHOTTOTROT also moved all-in, for 176,986, and ANTESVANTE, who had them both covered, made the call.
ANTESVANTE – J♦J♥
ELIASHARRIS – A♥Q♥
TOOHOTTOTROT – K♠A♣
The flop came Q♣3♦9♠, thrusting ELIASHARRIS into the lead with a pair of queens. The 3♠ on the turn changed nothing, but the K♥ on the river gave TOOHOTTOTROT a pair of kings and the win. ELIASHARRIS was eliminated from the tournament in fourth place and received $8,616 for his efforts.
A little while after the first elimination of the final table, TIGGER2 raised all-in preflop for his last 118,294 with A♣7♠ and received a call from ANTESVANTE, who held K♦Q♠. TIGGER2’s ace-high was still in the lead through the turn with the board reading 5♦4♣4♥3♦; however, that all changed when the K♥, the same card that eliminated ELIASHARRIS, hit the river. Suddenly TIGGER2 was out of the tournament in third place, good for $11,847.
Heads-up play saw a back-and-forth battle, which lasted well over half an hour. In the last hand of the tournament, ANTESVANTE (885,572 in chips) was in the big blind for 10,000 and TOOHOTTOTROT (191,428 in chips) in the small blind for 5,000. TOOHOTTOTROT raised all-in with Q♥10♣ and ANTESVANTE made the call with A♣A♠. The board ran out 6♥7♦J♦7♠Q♠ and ANTESVANTE’s pocket rockets held up, giving him the $29,079 first-place prize and the UBOC5 Event #3 championship.

The popular Mini-UBOC continued with its version of Event #3, which was hosted by online pro, S U F F E R. The event drew 644 players and created a prize pool of $19,320, which surpassed the $15k guarantee. The tournament drew a couple of UB pros in Scott Ian (201st) and Brandon Cantu (138th), both of whom made deep runs but couldn’t make the money. When the final table was reached, which of course was played four-handed, it was Hugh “JACKOVICH” Cohen who entered with a slight chip lead:
Rodney “BIGFLOPPER01” Burt - 606K
DIVERTER - 389K
BETITALL - 312K
Hugh “JACKOVICH” Cohen - 623K
The first elimination of the final table came when BIGFLOPPER01 raised to 19,999 and BETITALL called. The flop came down 6♣2♦J♣ and BIGFLOPPER01 bet 17,500 after BETITALL checked. The bet was called and the 10♦ was put out on the turn, which BETITALL checked. BIGFLOPPER01 continued to be aggressive and bet 55,000 only to have BETITALL raise all-in for 186,586. BIGFLOPPER01 called the additional 131,586 and the 4♠ appeared on the river. BETITALL showed 8♣5♣ for an unsuccessful bluff and couldn’t overcome BIGFLOPPER01’s pair of jacks with J♥5♦. He hit the rail in fourth place and took home $1,400.70.
A short time later, BIGFLOPPER01 was short with 185,096 in chips and raised all-in with K♦2♥. JACKOVICH called with A♠4♠ as the board ran out 7♠9♦3♠Q♥4♥. JACKOVICH collected the 371,592 pot and eliminated BIGFLOPPER01 in third place for $1,883.70.
Heads-up play saw DIVERTER enter with a slight chip lead of 1,050,031 in chips to JACKOVICH’s 881,969. They battled each other for an hour before the following hand developed. With the stacks pretty much the same as they were at the start of heads-up play, JACKOVICH raised to 60,000, DIVERTER reraised to 186,000 and JACKOVICH raised to 1,032,000. DIVERTER made the call for his remaining 657,817.
DIVERTER – K♣A♠
JACKOVICH – 7♣7♠
With the pot was at an astounding 1,693,634, it was off to the races. The 6♣Q♦4♥ flop kept JACKOVICH’s pair of sevens in the lead, but the K♦ changed all that. When the 8♦ came on the river, DIVERTER took down the huge pot and took a commanding chip lead. On the very next hand, JACKOVICH was all-in preflop with 5♣K♥ against the 9♠K♣ of DIVERTER. The board ran out J♥8♦A♠3♦7♣ and JACKOVICH was eliminated in second place for $2,849.70; meanwhile, DIVERTER became the Mini-UBOC5 Event #3 champion and took home the $4,878.30 first-place prize.
