Online Poker Recap: Montgomery, Benvenuti Win Big 0001

Early-week online poker results featured a live-event notable capturing a big Internet tourney. 2008 WSOP "November Nine" player Scott Montgomery took down the Full Tilt $1K for more than $95,000, while Michael "WatchOutFish" Benvenuti struck paydirt of his own in the Stars Super Tuesday, claiming almost $76,000. The two wins topped Monday and Tuesday online action, with details on the final tables of each as follows:

PokerStars Super Tuesday

The PokerStars Super Tuesday attracted a field of 389, with first place set at $75,855. Among the best finishers falling short of the final table were JP "JP 5-time" Kelly in 10th place ($5,446), James "Andy McLEOD" Obst in 11th ($5,446), Jamie "TheCronic420" Rosen in 12th ($5,446), Jeff "jeff710" Hakim in 13th ($4,668), Ozenc "ozenc" Demir in 16th ($3,890) and Stu "thedonator" Paterson in 19th ($2,723). These were the chip counts as the final table began:

Eliminated from the final table first was tibyun, during the 1,500/3,000/300 level. In a huge cooler hand, gibler321 made it 7,500 to play from early position and Eric "Ericb09" Blair raised it up to 19,200 in the cutoff. From the small blind tibyun went all in for 57,984 and gibler321 shoved for 131,541. Blair called and tabled KK and had tibyun's AK crushed, but was in horrible shape himself against gibler321's AA. The board ran out 9JA24 as gibler321 won the pot and took the chip lead, eliminating tibyun in ninth place for $6,807.50. Marc "mysterio6044" Karam departed next at 2,000/4,000/400. He shipped it on the button for 71,930 with KJ, but ran into M.nosbocaJ's KK in the small blind. No help came for Karam and he out in eighth place for $9,725.

Todd "tbt4653" Terry fell soon after. He had managed to crack aces with eights, but then ran big slick into aces to find himself on the short stack again. On his final hand he ran AJ into gibler321's AQ. The board rolled out 975K9 as Terry came up short, taking seventh place for $13,615. M.nosbocaJ busted a few hands later. Jason "JP OSU" Potter opened to 9,500 from the cutoff and M.nosbocaJ went all in for 61,908 in the small blind with KJ. Potter called with QQ and held on to win the pot as the community cards came 3J657. M.nosbocaJ earned $17,505 for the sixth-place showing.

Baikal7 busted at 3,000/6,000/600. Eric Blair raised to 15,600 on the button and Baikal7 shoved for 96,640 from the big blind. Blair called and tabled A9 to Baikal7's QJ. The board fell 610K410 and Baikal7 came up the loser on this hand, taking home $22,367.50 for fifth place. Eric "Ericb09" Blair was sent to the rail during this level as well. From the button Blair raised to 15,600, only to see Michael "WatchOutFish" Benvenuti pop it to 41,200 in the big blind. Blair went all in for 195,226 and Benvenuti called instantly with AK, which led Blair's AJ. The cards ran out 52QK8 and Blair was out in fourth, pocketing $32,676 for his efforts.

Jason "JP OSU" Potter bowed out in third place at 5,000/10,000/1,000. He shoved on the button for 189,187 with Kc8d and was called by Michael "WatchOutFish" Benvenuti in the big blind with 8h8s. The last snowman in the deck fell on the flop and it was enough to send Potter home in third place for $42,790. The chip counts to begin heads up play were as follows:

The battle came to an end on a limped pot. The flop brought 7AJ and gibler321 led out 16,885. Benvenuti raised to 48,650 and gibler321 re-raised that to 133,125. Benvenuti shoved with the bigger stack and gibler321 called all in for 374,498 with A6, in dire straits against Benvenuti's A7. The turn and river came 109 as gibler321 finished in second place for $57,377.50, with Benvenuti winning $75,855 for taking down the PokerStars Super Tuesday.

The Full Tilt $1K Monday drew 383 players, vying for the top prize of $95,750. Notables falling short of the final table included Justin "WPThero" Rollo in 12th ($4,787.50), Dan "imabigkidnow" Kelly in 13th ($3,830), Justin "exxplicit" Allen in 14th ($3,830), Andrew "fergwrx" Ferguson in 15th ($3,830), daCav04 in 16th ($2,872.50) and Nick "FU_15" Maimone in 17th ($2,872.50). The chip counts at the start of the final table were as follows:

During the 3,000/6,000/750 level, binrich was eliminated. From early position Scott Montgomery opened the action with a raise to 15,000. Next to act was Michael "YrrsiNN" Huber, who made it 43,000, only to see binrich go all in for 107,181 from the cutoff. Only Huber stuck around, calling with A5 and trailing binrich's JJ. However, the board fell KAQ2Q and binrich was out in ninth place for $7,660. ALLinwithdaBEST busted a few hands later after running AJ into Scott Montgomery's AQ. The board ran out 95787 and ALLinwithdaBEST finished in eighth place for $9,575.

Joshuah333 was the next to exit, at 4,000/8,000/1,000. Kory "s00tedj0kers89" Kilpatrick made it 18,575 to play from the cutoff and joshuah333 went all in on the button for 134,850. Kilpatrick called with A7 and held a slight lead over joshuah333's KQ. The community cards came 581095 as Kilpatrick's ace-high held up, sending joshuah333 home in seventh place for $12,447.50. Soon after that, awh1013 hit the rail as well. Scott Montgomery raised to 19,000 under the gun and awh1013 shoved for 62,826 with A10 on the button. Montgomery called with 77 and won the hand as the board rolled out 4585J. Awh1013 collected $19,150 for sixth place. ThePh0neBo0tH dialed on out later in the level. Montgomery made it 19,000 to go on the button and ThePh0neBo0tH bumped it up to 59,666 in the big blind. Montgomerry re-popped all in and ThePh0neBo0tH called all in for 359,010 with AK. Montgomery tabled 99 and just had ThePh0neBo0tH covered. The board ran out 54103Q and ThePh0neBo0tH hit the rail in fifth place for $26,810.

Michael "YrrsiNN" Huber fell at 5,000/10,000/1,000. He lost much of his stack when he ran AK into Boris "fratboy247" Kravets' KK. The board came 75442 and Huber's stack was decimated. He was eliminated shortly after in fourth place for $35,427.50. At 6,000/12,000/1,500 Kory "s00tedj0kers89" Kilpatrick busted. He got the chips in good with AJ against Montgomery's A4, but the board ran out 4Q3108 and Kilpatrick was out in third place for $45,960. Heads-up play began with these chip counts:

Kravets battled, but Montgomery's lead was too much to overcome. On the final hand, at 8,000/16,000/2,000, Kravets went all in for 207,790 with J10 and Montgomery called with AK. The board ran out 3JAA6 to seal Montgomery's win. Boris "fratboy247" Kravets finished as the runner-up for $61,280, while Scott Montgomery's victory in the Full Tilt $1K Monday was worth $95,750.
