Online Poker Weekend: 'darkillermax', 'tarheelkid' Notch Big Wins 0001

Another fall Sunday with a bit of overlay bonus in place was the tale of last night's biggest online events. Turnouts remained massive at the largest events on PokerStars and Full Tilt, with more than 11,000 players combined at their computer screens for action in the PokerStars Sunday Million and the Full Tilt $750K Guarantee. Darkillermax and tarheelkid emerged as the big winners from an exciting day and night of online poker.

PokerStars Sunday Million

The PokerStars Sunday Million saw 7,415 participants battle toward the winner's six-figure payday. Notable non-final-tablers finishers included Chris "cdbr3799" Dombrowski in 10th place ($7,500), TYROMPER in 18th place ($3,750), Isaac "westmenloAA" Baron in 20th place ($3,000), mossified84 in 22nd place ($3,000), David "drood" Rood in 33rd place ($2,700), Travis "TravestyFund" Rice (60th, $2,250), Jon "apestyles" Van Fleet (93rd, $1,950). The chip counts at the beginning of the final table were as follows:

darkillermax - 31,025,322

salvo58 - 11,985,000

sms9231 - 8,573,568

cashadvance7 - 6,955-314

moabut - 5,019,295

Numb Nutzzzz - 3,533,560

Lounatic0815 - 3,163,137

kadi100 - 2,447,136

BackDoorovic - 1,447,668

Eliminated first in the final was BackDoorovic, at the 200,000/400,000/40,000 level. On the short stack, he moved all in for 2,287,668 from early position with Q3 but found action from sms9231 with AK. The board brought no help to BackDoorovic, who finished ninth for $10,500. Cashadvance7 was felted next after moving all in for 1,155,314 with A3. Numb Nutzzzz, who had limped under the gun, called with 44 and was delighted to see a four hit the flop, good enough to bust cashadvance7 in eighth for $17,250. Two hands later, sms9231 moved all in from the cutoff for over 13 million and kadi100 called all in for 2,407,136 with KK, in the lead against sms9231's A9. The board, though, rolled out 7AQ96, sending kadi100 home in seventh place for $26,250. The fourth elimination at this level saw moabut bow out in sixth place. Sms9231 opened to 1,000,005 under the gun and moabut moved all in from the cutoff for 2,419,295 with A4. A quick call from sms9231 revealed KK which held up as the board came 510569. Moabut received $39,000 for sixth.

Lounatic0815's tournament ended when the blinds and antes were at 250,000/500,000/50,000. From the button, Lounatic0815 moved all in for 6,836,274 with A5 and watched salvo58 flat-call from the small blind with 1010. The 8510 flop brought top set to salvo58. The A turn card gave Lounatic0815 two outs to win the hand, but the river was the Q, ending the tournament for Lounatic0815 in fifth for $54,000. A possible deal was discussed with four remaining; however, terms were not agreed upon and play continued. Darkillermax opened to 1,350,000 from the cutoff and saw Numb Nutzzzz move all in for 6,462,315 with 1010. Darkillermax called and showed 55, needing to catch up. The flop and turn came [8c}78A, but the river 5 was a crushing blow to Numb Nutzzzz, who finished in fourth for $69,000.

Three-handed play began with these chip counts:

darkillermax - 32,399,832

salvo58 - 27,866,274

sms9231 - 13,883,894

Again a deal was discussed, and again no agreement was reached as play carried on. At the 400,000/800,000/80,000 level, sms9231 succumbed in third place ($84,000). Darkillermax limped from the small blind and sms9231 moved all in for 10,698,894 from the big blind. A quick call from darkillermax revealed KQ, ahead of sms9231's J10. The board rolled out K63810, ending sms9231's tournament.

The remaining two players agreed on a chop leaving the standard $30,000 in the middle for the winner. These paydays were assured by the deal:

darkillermax: $144,656.13

salvo58: $134,793.87

The heads-up battle lasted just a few hands before darkillermax closed it out. A flurry of preflop raises resulted in salvo58 being all in for 27,981,274 with 88, but trailing chip leader darkillermax's QQ. The board rolled out AK249 and the tournament was over. Salvo58 finished as the runner-up and earned $134,793.87, while darkillermax walked off as the night's PokerStars Sunday Million champ. After entering the final table with the chip lead, darkillermax remained at the top of the counts for most of the way, en route to a winning payday of $174,656.13.

Final Results:

1. darkillermax - $174,656.13

2. salvo58 - $134,793.87

3. sms9231 - $84,000

Full Tilt $750,000 Guarantee

The Full Tilt $750K Guarantee attracted 3,605 hopefuls with their eyes on the first place prize of $132,787.50. Among the top finishes here were Tim "Tmay420" West in 14th place ($5,325), Frank "Gator93" Hernandez in 20th place ($2,775), Joseph "JOEYTHEB" Brooks (26th, $2,775), Alex "AJKHoosier1" Kamberis in 33rd place ($2,250), Bryan "badbeatninja" Devonshire in 36th place ($2,250), Garrett "Gbecks" Beckman (67th, $1,125), and Danny "THE_D_RY" Ryan (85th, $900). The chip counts to start the final table were as follows:

Jeremiah "Believer8219" Vinsant - 3,065,047

Eppy1 - 2,016,135

tarheelkid - 1,841,790

alcatrazcc - 1,181,124

sumdumjer - 738,382

Jordan "pimpin_pens" Smith - 724,564

Notjony - 554,776

Bonditto - 424,194

Papagaio - 268,988

First to bid adieu to the final table was Bonditto. With the blinds and antes at 20,000/40,000/5,000, Bonditto moved all in from middle position for 419,194 with J10. Sumdumjer found 88 in the cutoff and reraised all in to 733,382. The button and blinds folded and it was off to the races. The 10Q5 flop paired Bonditto; however, the 8 turn card gave sumdumjer a commanding lead. The 2 river card eliminated Bonditto in ninth place for $10,050. Jordan "pimpin_pens" Smith was the next to exit. From early position, Smith moved all in for 714,564 with KQ and was called by Eppy1 in the big blind with JJ. The board came 8-high, sending Smith to the rail in eighth for $13,500. Leaving the group next was alcatrazcc at the 25,000/50,000/6,000 level. From early position, alcatrazcc made it 200,000 to go, and from the small blind tarheelkid moved all in with AJ and was snap-called by alcatrazcc with KK. The board doomed alcatrazcc coming out 108A63, with alcatrazcc finishing in seventh place for $17,250.

At the 30,000/60,000/7,500 level, Notjony fell. Jeremiah "Believer8219" Vinsant opened to 155,555 from middle position and Notjony made a stand for 364,107 with A9. Vinsant called with KJ. The board rolled out KJ826 and Notjony finished sixth for $23,025. Despite this win, Jeremiah "Believer8219" Vinsant finished in fifth place. After taking a terrible beat which saw his AA cracked by tarheelkid's AQ (all in preflop) when the board made a straight, Vinsant's last 955,373 was at risk with A10 against tarheelkid's KQ. The board gave tarheelkid a flush, coming out 69527, sending Jeremiah "Believer8219" Vinsant home in fifth for $31,050.

Sumdumjer's tournament would also come to an end at the hands of tarheelkid. With the blinds and antes at 40,000/80,000/10,000, tarheelkid made it 300,000 to play from the small blind and sumdumjer moved all in from the big blind for 1,213,576 with A5. Unfortunately for sumdumjer, tarheelkid held AK. No five would hit the board, felting sumdumjer in fourth for $41,400. Eppy1 was out in third place after tangling in a hand with Papagaio. On the button, Eppy1 raised to 240,000 and Papagaio called from the big blind. The K87 flop saw Papagaio check-call a bet of 225,000. The 5 turn again saw Papagaio check, and Eppy1 pushed all in for 607,899. A quick call from Papagaio revealed 77 for bottom set , besting Eppy1's KQ for top pair. The A river was merely a formality as Eppy1 finished in third place for $52,500.

Heads-up play began with these chip counts:

tarheelkid: 7,569,793

Papagaio: 3,245,207

The battle came to an end with the blinds at 50,000/100,000 and a 10,000 ante. Tarheelkid extended the lead and soon put an end to the tournament. Papagaio attempted to limp from the button, but tarheelkid moved all in. Papagaio called all in for 1,505,414 with AQ and was favored over tarheelkid's K7. The flop and turn came 2J84, but the river delivered the K and ended the match. Papagaio finished an impressive runner-up for $80,250 after beginning the final table as the short stack. The winner of the Full Tilt $750K Guarantee and $132,787.50 was tarheelkid.
