Poker Pros and Former Hockey Stars Out in Force for NHL Alumni Charity Poker Event
Earlier this month the NHL Alumni Charity Poker Tournament was filmed in Toronto and featured a mix of poker professionals and former NHL players. Among the former group were Team PokerStars Pros Jonathan Duhamel, Vanessa Rousso and Daniel Negreanu while the latter included Mark Napier, Matt Barnaby, Gary Leeman, Brad May, Theo Fleury, Marty McSorley, Darcy Tucker, Guy Carbonneau and Hall of Famers Pat Lafontaine and Denis Savard. In addition, this year's event included an active NHL player — Phil Kessel from the Toronto Maple Leafs — and three online qulifiers.
Unfortunately, the winner of the tournament, which offered participants the opportunity to compete for a $100,000 prize pool to donate to the charity of their choice, was not announced as the NHL Alumni Charity Poker Tournament will air in December on Sportsnet360 in Canada. That said, we were able to learn that the players were split into three tables with the final two players at each table advancing to a six player final table.
The players at each table were:
