It was a heart-filled day for Jeff Madsen as the three time World Series of Poker bracelet winner would hit three heart flushes for huge pots, none huger than the final hand in his heads up match with Kevin Saul to deliver him the 2014 Borgata Spring Poker Open $1,090 Six-Max title. For his excellent two days of play, Madsen took home $52,150 and a trophy.

"I don't have one of these," Madsen said as he posed with his trophy while adding that he would of course be taking part in the World Poker Tour Championship Event that starts on Monday. Madsen outlasted 192 entries in earning this victory and in the process adds to his over $4 million in lifetime tournament winnings and builds on what has already been an impressive 2014 with his third win of the year. Madsen would comment on this on Twitter shortly after:

Jeff MadsenThank u for the sweats twitter peeps, have great friends, appreciate the support . Been a good year, been focused #

Kevin Saul, his heads up counterpart is no slouch at the tables either with over $2.7 million in career tournament earnings including a win in the $2,000 Heads-Up Bounty tournament at the 2013 Borgata Poker Open. Saul would grab the chip lead three handed when he won a huge pot against Magaly Descalzi by shoving all in on the river and getting her to fold. He would collect $30,823 for his finish here today. Despite the loss, Saul took it in good spirits:

Kevin SaulThanks all for the support, somebody's gotta lose every time heads up. Couple days off then WPT championship Tuesday

Finishing in 3rd place for $23,746 was Magalay Descalzi, who impressed everyone at the table with her fearless play. This was Descalzi's first reported tournament cash and considering who she was up against, she more than held her own. Another poker great, Justin Young, would fall to Descalzi at the final table when his Queens ran into her Aces. He'd have to settle for a 4th place finish that was worth $18,624.

Also reaching the final table but falling short of the ultimate goal of winning the trophy were Joshua Sisak (5th - $14,434) and Michael Cohen (6th- $10,243). Others that would make the money included Emad Alabsi (16th - $1,862), Matt Iles (14th - $1,862), Anthony Maio (12th - $2,607), Bob Hwang (11th - $2,607), Alex Rocha (9th - $3,725), and Elliott Zaydman (7th - $7,915).

There is still plenty of poker action to take place at the 2014 Borgata Spring Poker Open and PokerNews will be here to bring you continuous coverage of all of the main events, including the WPT World Championship that starts on Monday!

Kevin Saul Eliminated in 2nd Place ($30,823)

Kevin Saul - 2nd Place
Kevin Saul - 2nd Place

Kevin Saul had the button, and raised to 52,000. Jeff Madsen made the call, the dealer fanned {2-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{7-Clubs}, and the three-time WSOP bracelet winner rapped the felt. Saul continued for 63,000, Madsen check-raised to 174,000, and Saul called.

The turn was the {9-Diamonds}, and Madsen tanked for a bit before reaching for chips. He plopped 207,000 in front of him, and using two hands, Saul double-fisted a raise of 462,000 across the yellow betting line.

"All in," Madsen said so quietly that our reporter barely heard him, and by the time the dealer tossed the red all-in circle in front of him, Saul had already committed a stack, signifying a call.

Saul: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Madsen: {j-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

According to the PokerNews Odds Calculator, Saul was an 82 percent favorite to double through and retake the chip lead, but the river was a heart - the {3-Hearts} - and Madsen won the hand with a flush.

Saul will walk away with $30,823 for his runner-up finish - his first five-figure score of 2014, and his second at Borgata in the last seven months.

Miles Davis

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

"Just so you know," Kevin Saul just said out of nowhere, "I'm about to wet my pants. If you think I look uncomfortable that's why."

Saul added that he may randomly sprint to the bathroom if need be.

Back and Forth

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

In what appeared to be a three-bet pot, Kevin Saul led out for 67,000 o a flop of {10-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. Jeff Madsen called.

The turn was the {6-Clubs}, Saul fired out another 98,000, and Madsen made the call.

The river was the man with the ax ({k-Diamonds}), Saul bet 135,000, and Madsen reached into his stack. He cut out enough chips to make the call, shot a glance at Saul, and called.

Saul rolled over {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a pair of tens, and dragged the pot.

The next hand, Saul limped in on the button, Madsen checked, and the dealer fanned {6-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{a-Clubs}. Madsen check-called a bet of 28,000, the turn was the {q-Spades}, and Madsen checked again. Saul fired 55,000, Madsen check-raised to 205,000, and Saul folded.

More for Madsen

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Jeff Madsen bumped it up to 55,000 on the button, Kevin Saul called, and the dealer fanned {a-Hearts}{4-Spades}{k-Hearts}. Saul check-called a bet of 67,000, and the turn was a repeat king - the {k-Spades}.

Both players checked.

The {j-Hearts} completed the board, Saul checked a third and final time, and Madsen plopped 187,000 in front of him. Saul tank-called, then mucked when the three-time WSOP bracelet winner showed {10-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for a flush.

Jeff Madsen opened to 55,000 and Kevin Saul re-raised to 143,000. Madsen four-bet to 310,000 and Saul called.

The flop came {A-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and Saul checked leading to a 187,000 bet from Madsen. Saul called.

The turn was the {3-Diamonds} and both players checked.

The river was the {5-Clubs} and Saul led out for 290,000 and snap-folded when Madsen moved all in about 10 seconds later. That 3:1 chip lead that Saul started with has now swung in Madsen's favor.

Break/Chip Counts

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Kevin Saul had chopped away at Jeff Madsen to get him down to 460,000 but Madsen has just doubled up with {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} against Saul's {Q-Spades}{J-Diamonds} and now we are right back where we started in this heads up match.

They are now on a 15 minute break.
