Kirk Wins a Race

Matthew Kirk opened with a raise to 1,325. All others folded around to the big blind and he moved in for his last 4,200. Kirk was rather quick to make the call.

Kirk: {J-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}
Opponent: {7-Hearts} {7-Spades}

The flop landed Kirk with top pair when the {10-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {3-Spades} was spread out by the dealer. The turn, the {K-Diamonds}, added a flush draw for Kirk and took away some outs for his opponent. A picture card on the river, the {Q-Spades}, concluded the hand and sent the chips over to Kirk while eliminating his opponent.

Doing well, Kirk has now built up to 27,000 chips.

Aristidou Doubles

After a player moved 7,100 chips into the pot, declaring that he was all in, Peter Aristidou made a stand and called off his remaming 4,100 from the small blind. The big blind got out of the way and let the two players duke it out with Aristidou at risk.

Aristidou: {A-Hearts} {9-Hearts}
Graham: {Q-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}

The board ran out {K-Spades} {K-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {9-Clubs}. After taking the lead on the turn with the ace, Aristidou was able to dodge a queen or the straight draw from his opponent to double up. He now has just under 9,000 chips.

Vos Running Hot

Action for this hand folds around to the blinds, where the player in the small blind moved all in with only Mark Vos left to act behind him. Vos said, "Yeah, I have ace-king. I call." He turned over his hand, revealing {2-Diamonds} {5-Spades}. "Oops, I thought I had ace-king." His opponent tabled {K-Clubs} {10-Spades}.

Drawing a big reaction from the table, the flop showed up {8-Hearts} {2-Spades} {2-Clubs}, vaulting Vos into the lead. The turn was the {7-Hearts}, locking up the win for Vos, and sending another player out the door.

"I was kidding, I had the nuts," said Vos, as he pulled in the pot. He's back up to 30,000.

The Croc Eliminated

Billy 'The Croc' Argyros from Event #4
Billy 'The Croc' Argyros from Event #4
Billy 'The Croc' Argyros was on the short stack when he moved in with {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades}. The Croc found one caller, Kristian Svensson, who held pocket threes: {3-Spades} {3-Diamonds}.

Argyros was unable to get even a little help on the flop when the {10-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} were spread face up in the middle of the table. As he stood up to begin his exit, the {K-Hearts} rolled off to officially end things for The Croc. The {6-Spades} completed the board on the river.

A Perfect Ten for Saab

David Saab opened with a raise to 2,000, and action passed to Peter Aristidou. Aristidou moved all in for a total of ~8,000 chips, and Saab was the lone caller.

Aristidou: {K-Spades} {Q-Hearts}

The board ran down {9-Hearts} {10-Spades} {3-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {7-Clubs}, and Saab took the pot with his two pair, tens and threes. He is up to 17,000, while Aristidou is out of chips.

Clock Called on Saab

David Saab and Sam Khouiss took a flop after some preflop action. With the board reading {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {9-Spades}, Sam Khouiss moved all in for 7,400. This bet sent Saab into the tank. Khouiss begged for Saab to call while a decision was waiting to be made and, after a minute or two passed, time was called on Saab by a player not involved in the hand.

This seemed to upset both Saab and Khouiss. Khouiss asked who called time at the table. A player admitted to calling the clock and then Khouiss tried to tell him to just let the poker be played, explaining that sometimes decisions may take a few minutes. Some minor arguing ensued, but in the end Saab let his hand go. Khouiss showed why he was begging for a call and turned up the {A-Spades} {8-Spades}.

Saab slipped a little on the hand to 29,000 and Khouiss bumped up to 14,000.

Huntly Doubles Up

On a board showing {A-Clubs} {3-Spades} {4-Clubs}, Dennis Huntly fired a 2,200 bet and the action folded around to Frank Pazaitis in the big blind who raised to 4,500; Huntly called.

The turn brought the {6-Diamonds} and Pazaitis open shoved all in, essentially putting Huntly to a decision for all of his chips. Huntly made the call and tabled {A-Spades} {5-Spades} for top pair and an open-ended straight draw; Pazaitis tabled {9-Clubs} {2-Hearts} for nothing but a gut-shot straight draw. The {Q-Hearts} fell on the river, a safe card for Huntly, who successfully doubled through to 29,000 in chips after the hand.

Khouiss Stacks Opponent In Heated Affair

Sam Khouiss
Sam Khouiss
Sam Khouiss has just sent an opponent to the rail in a heated confrontation out on table 29.

Khouiss held {A-Diamonds}{8-Spades} against his opponent's {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} with all the chips in the middle preflop. The board ran out {A-Hearts}{10-Spades}{5-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{3-Hearts} giving Khouiss two pair and the hand to send his opponent to the rail.

"Whenever I have A-8, I hit two pair!" celebrated Khouiss, but his opponent wasn't so happy.

"I hope you choke on it!" fired his opponent as he left his chair, "You're just a smartarse!" he shouted.

"Go shove it pal!" replied Khouiss as he had the last laugh and stacked up 21,000 in chips.

Lee Leaves

David Lee raises to open, making it 2,500 straight. Abel Cabrera moves all in, and Lee makes the call, putting himself all in for his tournament life. He tables {10-Spades} {10-Diamonds}, and is racing against Cabrera's {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades}.

The dealer spreads out the board: {9-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {2-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}. Safe until the river, Lee falls to the Cabrera's pair of queens and is out of the tournament. Abel Cabrera, meanwhile, has chipped his way up to 20,500.
