The creator of Poker Night in America, the popular poker TV show by Rush Street Productions, has announced a brand new poker series that is set to launch on national television in the US in late spring, called The Final Table.

While details about The Final Table are still filtering through, Rush Street Productions revealed it has been filming poker footage throughout the States for the past six months with plans to produce 26 one-hour shows.

"We expect to produce 26 one-hour shows in 2016," said Todd Anderson, president of Rush Street Productions. "There will be plenty of chances for people to play and make their way to a final table, including a $1 million guarantee main event at Choctaw Casino at the end of April."

Filming began in August 2015 at a tournament's final table at Turning Stone Resort in New York, with additional footage shot at tournament tables at Canterbury Park in Minnesota, Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh, Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida, and most recently at Thunder Valley Casino Resort near Sacramento. Additional filming is planned in the coming months.

"We're very excited to be bringing this new programming to national television," said Executive Producer Dustin Iannotti. "We plan to take some risks to try and appeal to a broader mainstream audience. The show will be unique and focus on entertainment, built around a poker game. It will be unlike anything that’s ever been produced before in poker."

The risks that Iannotti mentions look to be the implementation of a 60-second shot clock, time-bank chips, and "innovative comedic featurettes" that highlight the best and most exciting moments from the tournament.

Rush Street Productions is pulling no punches when it comes to hiring a star-studded cast to present The Final Table, either, as 14-time World Series of Poker gold bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth headlines a list of well-known commentators. Team PokerStars Pro and Twitch sensation Jason Somerville is also part of the team.

Also part of the illustrious commentary team are David Tuchman and Global Poker League franchise manager of the Los Angeles Sunset Maria Ho. Both Ho and Tuchman are set to give play-by-play announcements during the show.

The Final Table schedule for March and April 2016 is:

  • Feb. 25-March 7: Canterbury Park, Shakopee, MN
  • March 1-14: Maryland Live! Casino, Baltimore, MD
  • April 1-14: Rivers Casino, Pittsburgh, PA
  • April 8-11: SugarHouse Casino, Philadelphia, PA
  • April 7-27: Choctow Casino Resort, Durant, OK
