On Wednesday, Nov. 27, the eve of Thanksgiving, the Flamingo Las Vegas poker room was stuffed full of excitement as Caesars Entertainment’s record-breaking "Mega Beat Progressive Poker Jackpot" was hit for a staggering $766,951.

In a hand from one of the Texas hold'em tables spread throughout the room, a player named "Gary" from Costa Mesa, California held the A10 against "Linda" from Georgetown, Indiana and her JJ. The flop, turn, and river ran out KJ4QJ with action all the way to the river. Gary had turned the mother of all hands, a royal flush, and little did Linda know her quad jacks were only going to finish second best.

Following the showdown at the completion of the hand, the poker room erupted in applause. The excitement was then echoed throughout Las Vegas at participating Caesars Entertainment poker rooms, where all players actively playing in any of the rooms earned a share of the jackpot.

All told, 198 players in poker rooms at Harrah’s Las Vegas, Quad Resort & Casino, Flamingo Las Vegas, Bally’s Las Vegas, Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, Caesars Palace, and Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino earned a share of $766,951.

By holding the losing hand, Linda earned $156,189 of the jackpot. With the winning hand in the pot, Gary earned $79,406. All others earned $2,711.
