Van Zadelhoff Victim of Cracked Aces

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Steven Van Zadelhoff
Steven Van Zadelhoff

Picking up the action on the turn, Joe McKeehen from under the gun was involved in a hand with Steven van Zadelhoff in the cutoff and a player in the big blind. With the board reading {4-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Spades} the big blind checked and McKeehen bet out 5,000. Van Zadelhoff called while the big blind folded to send the two players to the river.

McKeehen bet enough to force van Zadelhoff all in on the {q-Hearts} river and the Dutchman snap called. Van Zadelhoff held {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} but his rockets were shot down by McKeehen, who had rivered a straight with {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}. Just as he was standing to go, van Zadelhoff was handed a beer he had ordered with tablemate Chance Kornuth. In a show of good sportsmanship, he clinked glasses with Kornuth and wished the table good luck before making his exit.
