Hansen in a Hole

Gus Hansen - did not expect an ace
Gus Hansen - did not expect an ace

There was over 80,000 in the pot by the turn of the {9-Hearts}{a-Spades}{q-Clubs}{6-Hearts} board, and although it had taken a very long time we think the turn action went Gus Hansen check, Phil Ivey check.

They saw a {2-Hearts} river and Hansen checked again. Ivey now bet 60,000, and it was time for some serious tankage.

Hansen tanked, and then he tanked some more. He shrugged, then squinted, and then it was time for another few minutes in the tank. Ivey sat patient as a poker monk.

Eventually, with a jerk of his hand that could as easily have been mere reflex as actual intention, Hansen made the call. And then mucked to Ivey's {a-Hearts}{4-Spades}.

Ivey - 380,000
Hansen - 100,000
