Talal Shakerchi raised to 1,800 on the button and Tom Dwan called. The flop came down and Dwan check-folded to a bet of 2,200 from Shakerchi. Dwan is now down to 22,700 in chips.
It's not over yet at the Table Of Many Railers, as Phil Hellmuth got his last in with pocket queens against Ram Vaswani's pocket fives, which only improved on the board.
Hellmuth is still at a chip disadvantage, but the 40,000 he's sitting on now (Vaswani at 80,000) is much more manageable.
With 8,000 chips in the middle, the flop was and Faraz Jaka fired 4,500. Jani Sointula made the call. The turn brought the and both players checked to see the fall on the river. Both checked again and it was Sointula's that took down the pot to move him further in the lead 88,000 to 32,000.
Faraz Jaka and Jani Sointula got it all in before the flop, the Finn flipping for a spot in tomorrow's third round. It was Sointula and his pocket nines with a slight edge against Jaka's ace-king, the latter needed to catch a card to stay alive in this match.
A third nine on the flop pretty much ended things right there, though, and Sointula futher improved to nines full to take care of "The-Toilet" and move on to the bubble round tomorrow.
On the final board of , Erik Sagstrom checked to Phil Ivey. There was 7,200 in the pot and Ivey fired 4,500. Sagstrom threw in a check-raise to 15,000 and Ivey tanked for several long minutes. He eventually made the call and Sagstrom tabled the for a wheel. Ivey mucked with a blank stare on his face and the two are now back to even.
We arrived to find a board reading , and there was a 10,000 bet on the felt in front of Full Tilt Red Pro Melanie Weisner, who also had the button. Her opponent Amit Makhija was poking at the river with his finger, as if to say, "You, the four of diamonds - you've just screwed me." If indeed this was what was going through Makhija's mind, though, he didn't say it out loud, but just folded instead.
Weisner, who'd taken some serious hits, moved back up to 40,000 against Makhija's 80,000.
Mark Everett has won against Scott Palmer in what their dealer called a "Very aggro match." From the off most pots were three-bet pre-flop and any pair hit on the flop seemed to be good to get it in.
Everett crippled Palmer in one hand and after that they were getting it in blind. The first hand ended up as a split pot when both players made a full-house but the next hand was final. Palmer held jack-six to Everett's king-four and took the lead on the flop but the turn flipped the pot on its head.
Phil Ivey raised to 2,000 and Erik Sagstrom reraised to 5,500 from the big blind. Ivey called and the flop came down and both players checked.
The turn brought the and both players checked again to see the fall on the river. Sagstrom fired 7,500 and Ivey tossed his hand into the muck.
Ivey dropped to 53,000 in chips and Sagstrom improved to 67,000.
The board was out as and Phil Ivey led for 6,000 into Erik Sagstrom who made the call. Ivey mucked and the Swede turned over and scooped the pot.
