Luck of the Irish?

Owen Robinson
Owen Robinson

This so called luck deserted Owen Robinson. He opened to 250 to face a three-bet from Erik Seidel out of the blinds. Robinson moved all-in for 2,750 and Seidel called all-in with exactly the same stack. Robinson was in great shape with kings to Seidel's queens but a queen fell on the river to eliminate him.

Beevers Eliminated

Joe Beevers has bitten the dust.

In a button versus big blind hand, Beevers bet 800 on the turn of a {7-Spades}{5-Hearts}{A-Spades}{K-Clubs} board before moving all in for his final 1,200 with {K-Hearts}{3-Hearts} on the {3-Spades} river.

In hindsight, he will be regretting the bet on the river as his opponent made the call, albeit not immediately, with {A-Hearts}{7-Clubs} for a superior two pair.

"Good game, nice hand," complimented Beevers as he departed.

The Levi Breaks While Soulier Hits The Jackpot

Nicolas Levi looks to have been eliminated from the tournament as Nikolay Evdakov is now sitting in the Frenchman's seat.

Meanwhile Fabrice Soulier took more than a moment to push all-in on the turn of a {3-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} board with {7-Spades} {7-Diamonds} against a bet of 1,025 from the small blind who had 700 back. But he did so regardless and was up against a slowplayed {A-Clubs} {A-Hearts} which couldn't hit on the {3-Hearts} river.

"I knew he was trapping me with something," declared Soulier.

No Back-to-Back Cashes For Jelinek

Steve Jelinek has fallen at the hands of fellow Brit Simon Mairs. Mairs opened to 300 from late position before Jelinek, who finished 15th in the PLO event, moved all-in for 1,600. Mairs made the call with ace-queen and was racing Jelinek's pocket threes. A queen on the flop and an ace on river sealed Jelinek's fate.

Rudd Says Yes to Nine

Pushing all in over the button's open for a total of 1,575, Daniel Rudd found his tournament life hanging by the very thinnest of threads, his {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} in water hotter than the sun against {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}.

The Poker Gods, however, were smiling down upon the young online pro as following the {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} flop, a sumptuous {9-Spades} hit the turn to save his bacon. A bullet-less {J-Clubs} river and the man from Grimsby was back over his starting stack.

A Day At The Raceners

John Racener opened preflop to 250 from UTG and a player in middle position raised all-in, Racener called off his stack flipping {10-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} against {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs}.

The flop came a still-in-the-balance {5-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {6-Clubs} as Mike Matusow told the other player, "You're the favourite..." until the {4-Diamonds} turn where he added, "now you're a dog."

But the river was neither blank nor gin card for either player as the {2-Hearts} put a straight on board forcing them to chop it up.

Hall Falls

Gavin Hall
Gavin Hall

Neil Channing arrived with an army of players today, but he's now lost two minions as Gavin Hall followed recent casualty Owen Robinson out of the door.

Robinson's tale was a simple one, pushing all in for 1,850 over the shove of a short stack with pocket sevens, only for James Akenhead to wake up behind with jacks.

Despite Hall's demise, Channing will still be keeping a watchful eye on Robert Jarrett-Smith, current table mate Simon Mairs, and high stakes pro Richard Ashby.
