Heads-up on a board of J♣3♣6♠8♠, Anthony Mahaut bet 400,000 from middle position and Frederic Marechal moved all in. Mahaut quickly called for 1,450,000 with A♥J♥ for top pair, while Marechal had 9♣8♥ for a pair of eights.
The river was the J♦ and Mahaut improved to trips to secure the double up. "This guy's a survivor," tablemate Giridhar Tatavarti said.
At another table, Candido Cappiello bet 650,000 from the big blind on a board of J♠J♣3♠7♠J♦ and Xiaohua Yang called in middle position. Cappiello showed J♥3♠ for quad jacks and Yang tossed two aces into the muck.
