Palma Begins His Comeback

Level 5 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante
Nick Palma
Nick Palma

So far, It hasn't been smooth sailing for Nick Palma in Day 1b of the WSOP Europe Main Event. The American was down to 15,700 and had self-admittedly not won a pot all day.

His fortune looked to be changing after he opened to 1,600 from the cutoff and was called by Levan Rcheulishvili from the big blind.

Rcheulishvili check-called for 2,000 on the QJ3 flop which brought in the 9 turn. Rcheulishvili checked again and Palma moved all in for 12,100. Rcheulishvili thought it over for a few moments and called.

Nick Palma: AQ
Levan Rcheulishvili: Q2

Palma had the superior pair of queens and remained best after the 9 river to double up.

Miscikowski Gets an Early Christmas Present

Level 5 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante
David Miscikowski
David Miscikowski

Christmas may be 44 days away, but David Miscikowski received an early gift to boost his Main Event stack.

Erguen Sertkan opened to 3,800 from middle position and was called by Miscikowski and Halil Coknez from the hijack and button.

Sertkan continued for 6,900 on the 432 flop and was called by both opponents.

Sertkan fired out another 6,000 on the 10 turn. This time, only Miscikowski called.

The 3 river saw Sertkan bet 12,600, leaving him with just over 25,000 behind. Miscikowski was the bigger stack and put his opponent all in. Sertkan snap-called for his tournament life.

Miscikowski had a full house with his 22. Sertkan had ace-high with his AJ and appeared to have tilted away any hopes of the Main Event title..

Wooram Cho
Wooram Cho

Wooram Cho raised to 1,600 under the gun before Miroslav Salaj three-bet to 4,000 in middle position. Vasileios Chatzilazarou called on the button, but Cho put in a four-bet to 13,000.

Salaj five-bet to 35,000 and Chatzilazarou got out of the way. Cho asked how much Salaj had behind before moving all in, and Salaj snap-called for 150,000.

Miroslav Salaj: AA
Wooram Cho: A5

Cho had made a move right into Salaj's aces and was left with even fewer outs after the J710 flop as Salaj picked up the nut flush draw. The 5 fell on the turn and Cho had one out heading to the river, but no miracles arrived on 2 as Salaj earned the massive double up.

Aliaksei Boika
Aliaksei Boika

The action was picked up on the 9Q3K turn, with around 40,000 chips in the middle. Aliaksei Boika added 12,000 more to that via a bet from the big blind, and Vlad Darie raised that bet to 32,000 from the hijack.

Boika made the call and the 9 river was dealt. Boika took a few minutes before leading for 29,000 chips. Darie, on his turn, took even more time to come out with an all-in raise to 87,600.

Boika took some more time to think over the situation, but ultimately decided he could not fold and put in the call. Darie showed 75 for the missed flush draw and Boika revealed his 33 for the bottom full house.

Boika took down the huge pot while Darie could join Samantha Algeri on the rail, who had busted just before him.

James Chen opened to 1,300 from under the gun before Birger Ohl made it 4,500 on his direct left. Action folded back to Chen who reraised to 11,500. Ohl five-bet to 27,000 and after a few moments of thinking, Chen called.

The K104 flop checked through to the 9 turn. Chen led out for 30,000 and Ohl went into the tank. After around two minutes, he made what appeared to be a disciplined fold and Chen scooped in a rare five-bet pot.

WSOP veteran Roland Israelashvvili joined the table as the hand had finished, and has a fresh 100,000 starting stack. Israelashvili has 462 cashes under the WSOP umbrella, which includes 10 circuit rings. However, he has still yet to capture a bracelet.
