Jeff Madsen

Welcome back to Event #5: €2,500 8-Game Mix for the 2019 World Series of Poker Europe, the first-ever eight-game mix bracelet event since the WSOPE moved to King's Resort. The starting field of 71 players have been reduced to the final 26, who will be returning today to battle it out for the €75,426 first place prize and a WSOP gold bracelet.

Starting the day in the role of chipleader is four-time bracelet winner Jeff Madsen with a stack of 336,500. Madsen had a strong day and eliminated Philipp Zukernik and Marek Blasko on his way to the chip lead, both in Pot-Limit Omaha hands. Following Madsen is Sweden's wonder-kid Viktor Blom who bagged 302,000 chips after the first day, where he was chipping up from the beginning and went all the way to finish second in the chipcounts.

Another four-time bracelet winner, Eli Elezra, is rounding up the top three with 252,000. A star-studded field, consists of many big names such as Phil Hellmuth (145,000), Daniel Negreanu (84,500), number one in the 2019 WSOP Player of the Year race Robert Campbell (45,500), and Jeff Lisandro (44,500).

Day 2 begins at 3 p.m. local time and more than half of the 26 remaining players will leave the event empty-handed, since only eleven of them will secure a place into the money. A winner will be crowned today according to the schedule, so stay tuned in PokerNews for everything that happens until the end of the event.

Julien Martini was all in for his final crumbs in Razz and Joao Vieira tried to knock him out. Vieira ended up with an 8-6-4-3-A after all was said and done.

Martini had a made eighty-seven open in front of him but couldn't beat Vieira's board with the other two. He then his hand in the muck and said his goodbyes.

Burns Breaks Blom in PLO

Level 16 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante
Viktor Blom
Viktor Blom

Pot-Limit Omaha

In a blind-on-blind confrontation, Viktor Blom was all in for 110,000 from the small blind and Kahle Burns had the amount matched from the big blind.

Viktor Blom: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Kahle Burns: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades}

"That's a strong hand," Burns said, deadpanned. The Aussie needed help and received just that when the flop came {q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}, giving him the requisite queen to take the lead.

Neither the {6-Diamonds} turn nor {7-Hearts} river turned it around for "Isildur1", who had to bow out in a disappointing 23rd place after starting the day second in chips.

Hellmuth Chops to Survive

Stud Hi-Lo

Allen Kessler: {x-}{x-} / {2-Clubs}{7-Spades}{10-Hearts}{6-Spades} / {x-}
Phil Hellmuth: {x-}{x-} / {7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} / {x-}
Kahle Burns: {x-}{x-} / {k-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} / {x-}

On fifth street, Phil Hellmuth was all in for 13,000 and Kahle Burns raised with a big bet to 29,000. Back on Allen Kessler, he called after some thought. A sizable crowd started gathering to see the 15-time bracelet winner being at risk.

Burns check-called bets from Kessler on sixth and seventh street before all hands went to showdown. Kessler was the first to reveal, slowly rolling over {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for a pair of sixes and 8-7-6-5-2 low. Burns then tabled {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} for aces and nines.

Hellmuth was last to act and turned over {4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} to make a 7-4-3-2-A low to claim half the pot.

"Needs a low to survive!" Daniel Negreanu cheerfully quipped, who was filming the whole showdown for his vlog.

Sandvik Eliminates Two; Field on the Bubble

Level 19 : 15,000/30,000, 0 ante
Eli Elezra
Eli Elezra

Espen Sandvik eliminated both Bruno Stefanelli and Eli Elezra to bring the field to the bubble.

First, Bruno Stefanelli was left short and lost the last of his chips in a 2-7 Triple Draw hand against Sandvik.

A couple of hands later, the game changed to No-Limit Hold'em and Eli Elezra was the one at risk. Elezra had 200,000 for around 13 blinds and shoved first to act. Sandvik was in the small blind and reshoved all in.

Eli Elezra: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}
Espen Sandvik: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}

"Nice bubble for me," Elezra said while getting up from his seat. The dealer brought an unexpected sweat on the {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop, giving a flush draw and a gutshot to Elezra.

The {9-Spades} on the turn and the {10-Diamonds} on the river weren't the cards that Elezra needed to see and the field was left with 12 players.
