Riess Almost Folded

Level 4 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Daniel Pidun raised 40,000 from the button and Ryan Riess defended his big blind.

The flop came {j-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, Riess check-raised the 25,000 bet of Pidun to 75,000 which was called.

The turn was the {9-Spades}, Riess continued with a bet of 75,000 and now Pidun raised to 225,000 after using a time-bank. Riess called.

The river completed the board with the {a-Clubs} for Riess to check for the last time. Pidun fired a bet of 250,000 over the line. Riess used a time-bank and then made the call.

Pidun smiled and tabled {9-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for the turned pair of nines. Riess quickly flipped over {j-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for the higher pair of jacks.

"You almost got me to fold," Riess commented.
