Palevic Increases His Lead

Philippe Sintes raised to 1,600 from early position, Mohamed El Hamdi called from the cutoff seat and Rifat Palevic called from the big blind. The flop came down {6-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and Palevic checked. Sintes bet 2,500, El Hamdi called and then Palevic check-raised to 8,825. Sintes folded, but El Hamdi called.

The turn was the {K-Spades} and Palevic kept the pressure on with a bet to 11,800. El Hamdi folded and Palevic won the pot.

Candio Caned

Filippo Candio - out
Filippo Candio - out

Barny Boatman opened the action with an early-position raise to 1,500, and he found calls from Mathieu Pourrat and Freddy Deeb before Filippo Candio three-bet shoved. It was just 4,475 total, and Boatman isolated with a reraise to 13,000. Candio was at risk, and he was flipping.

Showdown
Boatman: {2-Clubs} {2-Diamonds}
Candio: {A-Hearts} {J-Clubs}

We must say Candio didn't look very confident in his race-running abilities, and he was already standing up as the dealer blanked out a {10-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {4-Spades} flop. The turn {8-Hearts} and river {2-Hearts} failed to save his tournament life, and he wished his table luck before loping slowly out the door.

Chan Busts Jeannet

On the {Q-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop, Mohamed El Hamdi, Jerome Jeannet and Philippe Narboni all checked to two-time World Series of Poker Main Event winner Johnny Chan. He bet 3,000 and El Hamdi folded. Jeannet raised all in for 14,725 and Narboni got out of the way. Chan called and El Hamdi folded.

Chan: {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Jeannet: {7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}

The turn was the {2-Spades} and the river the {7-Hearts}. Jeannet missed and Chan won the pot, eliminating Jeannet in the process.

Deeb Donates a Double

In early position, Yves Hallague open-shoved for 6,750. Everyone quickly folded in turn to the big blind where Freddy Deeb asked for the count. Satisfied by the number, he made the call and turned over {5-Diamonds} {5-Spades}. Hallague was racing for the double with {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs}, and the board ran out favorably for him. It came {K-Hearts} {10-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {3-Spades}, and it earns the Frenchman a double up.

Deeb drops just a bit, but he's still got about twice as many chips as he began the day with.

Moussi and Fitoussi

Bruno Fitoussi
Bruno Fitoussi

Under the gun, Bruno Fitoussi looked down at {K-Clubs} {10-Hearts}, and he open-shoved for his last 6,400. Action folded all the way around to the blinds where the similarly named Bruno Moussi opted to make the call, and his {8-Hearts} {9-Hearts} was drawing live for the knockout.

Fitoussi's king held strong, though, and the {6-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} {A-Spades} {A-Hearts} {4-Hearts} has doubled Fitoussi back over 14,000. Next stop: starting stack!

Cassidy, Rijkenberg Moving Up

From the button, Constant Rijkenberg raised to 1,200, and he found actions from both blinds -- Joe Cassidy and David Hawksworth, respectively.

The three of them checked through the {3-Clubs} {K-Spades} {2-Clubs} flop, and the {Q-Spades} dropped on fourth street. Cassidy took the lead with a bet of 2,700 now, Hawksworth called, and Rijkenberg folded. The river was the {8-Diamonds}, and Cassidy got some more value with a final bet of 4,700. He showed down {K-Diamonds} {J-Hearts}, and Hawksworth nodded. He flashed his second-best {K-Hearts} {10-Hearts}, and Cassidy takes the pot to move into six figures.

Rijkenberg is up from his starting count, too.
