Hellmuth Giving Another Show, Abecassis Doubles Quietly

Phil Hellmuth made pot sized raise, 1,750, from the under the gun position to kick things off. Alexander Kuzmin, who is still sitting directly to his left, decided to make the call. Dermot Blain called from the small blind after which Michel Abecassis decided to shove all-in for his remaining 5,625. The rest of the players folded to Hellmuth who made the call. Than the unexpected happened, Alexander Kuzmin decided to shove all-in for a total of 22,925.

Hellmuth seemed baffled by the move the Russian just made and he tanked for minutes before folding his hand. "I'm folding kings," he shouted while showing {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} and mucked his other two cards. Kuzmin turned over {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and Abecassis showed {5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}.

"Dang it!" Hellmuth yelled as the dealer showed the {2-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop. "I folded king-king-seven-deuce". Hellmuth seemed very disappointed but when the {6-Hearts} hit the turn he sighed and said, "He has sixes full of sevens". The river was the {10-Diamonds} and Abecassis tripled up leaving Kuzmin with only 17,000 chips. "I knew you were crazy!" Helllmuth continued his rant against Kuzmin who sheepishly replied with, "Can I win one please?".

The day is almost over but Hellmuth seems far from done playing and talking.

Trickett Eliminates Chouity

Level 8 : 300/600, 0 ante

Sam Trickett has just eliminated Nicolas Chouity. We didn't see Chouity's hand because he had already folded after witnessing the nuts of Trickett.

Trickett{K-Spades} {J-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds}

Board: {9-Spades} {7-Spades} {K-Clubs} {A-Spades} {10-Spades}

"I would have won that hand," said the Devilfish.

"I don't think so, I had the nuts," said Trickett.

"It wouldn't surprise me. I couldn't win a hand against Stevie Wonder," says the Devilfish.

Clemencon Loses Half of His Stack to Timex

On a board of {5-Hearts} {5-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {10-Clubs} and 12,000 in the pot, Mike McDonald had bet 4,000 from middle position and Tristan Clemencon had raised to 15,325. Timex took his time before moving all-in for 35,500. Clemencon had only 20,000 left and the decision was for his future in this tournament. He eventually found the fold.

"Bluff?" He asked.

"I will tell you after the tournament has finished," said Timex.

Hellmuth Cruising

Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth started the WSOPE off with a bang making a deep run in the €2,650 6-Max event. The 11-time bracelet winner ended up finishing in seventh place taking home € 24,183. In todays event Hellmuth arrived in his usual style and was one of the last players to register. Even though he didn't play as many hours some of the others did he still managed to get hold of quite some chips.

In the hand we witnessed Hellmuth raised to 1,500 from the hijack. WPT winner Alexander Kuzmin three-bet to 4,000 from the cut-off and after the three remaining players folded Hellmuth made the call. The flop brought out {J-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{7-Spades} and Hellmuth check-called the 3,000 chip bet Kuzmin put out. On the turn Hellmuth checked in the dark so it was up to Kuzmin to decide what to do when the {J-Hearts} popped up. The Russian player checked behind giving us the river card.

The river was the {Q-Spades} and Hellmuth bet 6,000 putting Kuzmin to the test. After quite some thinking the Russian player called and Hellmuth announced he had trip jacks right away. Hellmuth turned over {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and raked in the pot leaving Kuzmin with just 10,000 chips. Hellmuth is cruising with 78,000 chips and looking to make another deep run.

Randy Dorfman limped from under the gun, David Williams called from mid-position as did the player in the big blind. The flop was {J-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {4-Clubs} and everyone checked to Williams who bet 1,500 and both players called. The turn was the {Q-Hearts} and all three players checked. The river was the {A-Clubs} and the big blind bet 3,500, Dorfman folded and Williams made the call and won the pot.

Mercier Doubles Up Through Robl

Jason Mercier Doubles Up
Jason Mercier Doubles Up

There was a raise on the button to 2,000. Jason Mercier ceases playing Chinese Poker on his I-Pad to give himself just enough time to swing in with a 7,000 three-bet. Andrew Robl is in the big blind and he four bets to 22,500 and the big blind realises he is in a bit of a mess and folds.

"Let me just check that I have what I think I have?" Says Mercier.

He checks his cards and moves all-in.

"You have aces?" Says Robl as he calls.

Mercier{A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {2-Spades}
Robl{K-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {2-Diamonds}

Board: {J-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {6-Spades} {8-Spades}

Negreanu Also Gone

Level 7 : 250/500, 0 ante

He has been out for a while now but we still owe you guys his bust out. Our colleagues told us Negreanu got his last chips into the pot against Juha Helppi, this was the showdown that followed.

Daniel Negreanu{Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{7-Spades}
Juha Helppi{A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

The board ran out {2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{8-Clubs} giving both players a full house but Helppi had the better pair. We will probably see Negreanu back again tomorrow in the €3,000 No Limit Hold'em Shoot Out that will be starting at 5pm local time.
