Negreanu Takes the Chip Lead

Your new chip leader

Daniel Negreanu raised to 800 and Lars Hougaard made the call from the big blind. The flop was {9-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}. Hougaard checked, Negreanu bet 800 and Hougaard raised to 3,200.

"Hmmm. I have to think about the best way to approach this," said Negreanu before sliding out a stack of 50,000 chips, enough to set Hougaard all in.

Hougaard mumbled something we couldn't quite hear, but evidently Negreanu could.

"You have a pair AND a straight draw? OK, so you hit your miracle flop and have to fold?" he said with a chuckle.

"Seems like it," said Hougaard before mucking his cards.

"I have a set. You're a nice kid, so I'll show," said Negreanu, flashing {6-Clubs} {6-Spades} .

"I was in the same situation at the WSOP this summer. The flop was 6-8-9. I had two sixes and the other guy had two nines," he quipped as he raked in the pot.

Negreanu now on 95,000 and the clear chip leader.
