Hand #240 - Ivan Demidov

John Juanda has the button in Seat 5. Ivan Demidov completes the small blind and Stanislav Alekhin checks his option. The flop is {Q-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {2-Clubs}. A 55,000 bet from Demidov is enough to take it down.

Hand #241 - John Juanda

Ivan Demidov has the button in Seat 6 and raises to 95,000 and John Juanda makes the call from the big blind.

The flop comes {2-Hearts} {J-Spades} {6-Diamonds} and Juanda checks to Demidov, who makes a continuation bet of 135,000. Juanda then check-raises to 300,000. Demidov, unshaken, makes the call and sees the {10-Clubs} land on the turn.

Juanda continues the onslaught with a 475,000 bet that sends Demidov into the tank.... again. Demidov eventually emerges with a call and the river delivers the {10-Diamonds}.

A surprising check, check on the river brings us straight to the showdown, at which point Juanda tables {Q-Hearts} {J-Hearts} for two pair, and Demidov mucks, giving Juanda the checkmark.

Updated chip counts on the way.

Hand #242 -

There will be no double Main Event winner this year.

Stanislav Alekhin has the button in Seat 9. John Juanda raises to 105,000 from the small blind and Ivan Demidov calls from the big. The flop is {8-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds}. Juanda checks it over to Demidov, who bets 170,000. Juanda makes the call. The {J-Clubs} on the turn prompts another check from Juanda and a 450,000 bet from Demidov. Juanda moves all in and Demidov calls.

Demidov {Q-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}

Juanda {A-Diamonds} {A-Clubs}

Juanda is ahead, but Demidov has outs with straight and flush draws. The river, though is the {J-Spades} and Ivan Demidov is eliminated in third place. He'll take home £334,850 for his impressive performance tonight. See you in November, Ivan.
