Hand #215 - John Juanda

Stanislav Alekhin has the button in Seat 9. John Juanda raises to 100,000 and gets no takers. He shows {A-?} {Q-?} for yet another monster hand (that's aces, kings, A-K, and A-Q in the last hour)... that got no action.

Hand #217 - Ivan Demidov

Ivan Demidov has the button in Seat 6. He raises to 70,000 and John Juanda bumps it up to 250,000 from the big blind. Demidov four-bets to 640,000, Juanda folds and Demidov takes it down.

To rub salt into the wound, he shows {10-Hearts} {7-Clubs}.

Hand #218 - John Juanda

Stanislav Alekhin has the button in Seat 9 and folds. John Juanda limps into the pot from the small blind and Ivan Demidov checks his option in the big, bringing us heads up to a {10-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} flop.

Both players check the flop, as well as the {6-Clubs} turn. The river delivers the {3-Diamonds} and Ivan takes a stab at the pot with a 30,000 bet. Juanda makes the call and Ivan shows seven-high. Juanda's king-high has Demidov dominated and Juanda takes down the small pot.

Hand #219 - John Juanda

John Juanda has the button in Seat 5. He raises to 70,000 and Stanislav Alekhin calls from the big blind. The flop is {4-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {3-Hearts}. Alekhin checks to Juanda, who bets 100,000. It's enough to chase Alekhin away and Juanda wins the pot.

Hand #220 - John Juanda

Ivan Demidov has the button in Seat 6 and open-folds. Stanislav Alekhin limps in from the small blind and John Juanda checks his option in the big.

The flop comes {2-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {4-Clubs} and both players check. The {2-Hearts} falls on the turn and Alekhin checks to Juanda who bets 40,000. Alekhin quickly folds and Juanda takes down the pot.

Hand #221 - Ivan Demidov

Stanislav Alekhin has the button in Seat 9 and opens with a raise to 70,000. Ivan Demidov is the lone caller and the two go heads-up to the {3-Hearts} {2-Spades} {3-Diamonds} flop.

Both players check and the dealer burns and turns the {10-Clubs}. Demidov then checks to Alekhin who fires a 110,000 bet. Demidov makes the call.

The last card off the deck is the {7-Hearts} and again, Demidov checks to his Russian counterpart, who bets 150,000. Demidov makes the call and a showdown ensues. Both players have a pair of tens -- Ivan with the higher kicker ({J-?}) -- and thus he takes down the pot, in the first significant hand between the two Russians.

Hand #223 - Stanislav Alekhin

Ivan Demidov has the button in Seat 6 and opens with a raise to 70,000. Stanislav Alekhin then reaches for a stack of 25,000 chips and reraises to 210,000. John Juanda immediately folds his big blind and when the action returns to Demidov, he too mucks, giving the pot to Alekhin.

Too close for comfort?
If you've been reading along with the live updates you're well aware that Juanda is sitting in Seat 5, Demidov in Seat 6, and Alekhin in Seat 9. While often times players elect to spread out a bit around the table at this stage of the game, these three have stayed put in their original seats, putting Juanda and Demidov very close together-- so close in fact that their stacks are only inches apart.

I wonder how Juanda feels about Demidov donning the same shirt today that he's worn since Day 1?
