Hand #179 - Ivan Demidov

Stanislav Alekhin has the button in Seat 9. John Juanda completes the small blind and Ivan Demidov checks his option in the big. The flop is {Q-Spades} {9-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} and both players check. The turn is the {2-Spades}. Juanda checks it again and Demidov fires out 90,000. Juanda gives up his hand and Demidov wins the pot.

'Juand'a Some of This?

What?!
What?!
Poker pro John Juanda has no doubt taken over the game with impeccably timed stop-and-go play. He's been raising practically every other hand and continues to pick up small pot after small pot, adding to his newfound chip lead. He's got bracelet number four on the brain, and appears determined not to let his Russian foes stand in the way.

Hand #184 - Ivan Demidov Doubles Up

Ivan Demidov has the button in Seat 6 and raises to 70,000. Stanislav Alekhin folds his small blind and when the action lands on John Juanda, he reraises to 215,000.

Demidov then quickly announces that he's all in causing Juanda to pause. Juanda studies the situation carefully, eyeballing Demidov's chips and talking things through out loud.

John eventually stacks up the chips required to call and rubs his hands together in front of his lips before eventually reaching for his chips and sliding them into the middle. A showdown ensued and the following cards were tabled:

Juanda: {A-Diamonds} {J-Spades}
Demidov: {K-Hearts} {10-Hearts}

The {10-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {3-Clubs} board fell in favor of Demidov, who doubled through to 2,191,000 in chips. The hit knocked Juanda back down to 2,381,000.
