John vs. Jon - John Wins

John 'Kunkuwap' Tabatabai - any two will do
John 'Kunkuwap' Tabatabai - any two will do
I caught this hand on the river, when button Jon Turner was considering calling the 26k bet out by John Tabatabai.

The board: {2-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{K-Spades}

He thought for a while, and then called - Tabatabai flipped over the {5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} for the flopped nut straight (which had attracted only an unlikely backdoor flush possibility against it over the course of the hand). Turner shook his head, having bumped up Tabatai stack to 145,000, while himself dropping down to just under 70k.

Masseuse of Doom

Gary Jones doubles up
Gary Jones doubles up
Some masseuses descended to the lower poker room to work their magic on the stiff or the tense. They've been doing a roaring trade at the WSOPE and the further on it gets, the more tension headaches might be felt at the tables. Anyway, Tony G wanted a massage, but he asked the girl first, "You haven't busted anyone while you've been giving them a massage?" She confirmed that she was not bad luck and started kneading away. Shortly afterwards, he raised preflop and found Gary Jones moving all in over the top for 31,700. He called.

Jones: {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Tony G: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}

Flop: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Turn: {10-Diamonds}
River: {7-Spades} - But Tony had already thrown his hand face down into the muck on the turn.

A Tough Table

If ever there were a table of doom, then perhaps Table 9 is it, nearly all the players having won one of the major titles:

Dave Colclough = GUKPT (2007)
Vicky Coren = EPT (2006)
Lee Nelson = Aussie Millions (2006)
Hoyt Corkins = WPT (2003)
Jamie Gold = WSOP (2006)

Daniel Zink Eliminated

Daniel Zink and his luscious red hair on Day 1b of the Main Event
Daniel Zink and his luscious red hair on Day 1b of the Main Event
Daniel Zink pushed all in for 35,000 over the top of John Tabatabai's UTG opening raise and Tabatabai called.

Zink {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Tabatabai {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}

The flop was {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}, but the turn was the {A-Diamonds}, Zink pounding his fist on the table in frustration before quickly apologizing to his opponent. The river was the {7-Spades}, and Zink was sent to the rail.

"Mildly Heterosexual"

Mark Vos... master of his domain
Mark Vos... master of his domain
Mark Vos just walked by and was reading a sports magazine, with the Rugby World Cup logo on the front, and a half naked man on the back cover.

Interestingly, Mark was reading the magazime from the back cover. When we asked him about this, he said: "Don't worry, I'm mildly heterosexual!"
