Whilst we had Johnny Chan being stopped by the doormen as he trundled into the Betfair lounge for a cuppa, we now have Gus Hansen being fronted on the balcony here as he tries to watch Patrick Antonius in action.
"Excuse me, sir," says the unknowing security guard, "You need to stand the other side of the rail."
"I think you'll find I'm okay here," replies a frustrated Gus, clearly thinking, "Does he not know who the hell I am!"
Standing firm, the security guard continues, "Sorry sir, you need to have a press pass to watch from there."
Reluctant to budge, Gus adds, "If you just ask one of these guys in charge over there they'll confirm it's okay."
At this point, one of the TV guys plods over and pretty much says it's okay and invites Gus to sit down on the seat in the corner. Meanwhile, the security guard isn't too sure what to do as he has been given strict orders to follow. Anyhow, for the time being, it looks like where Chan failed, Gus has succeeded and that star power reigns supreme.
Celebrities 1, Commoners 1
It was a pretty simple affair - although I'm not 100% on the pre-flop action - Jimmy Fricke raising it up under the gun before finding action from Carter on the small blind. The chips (what was left of them) went in on a flop, Carter's holding up against Fricke's on the turn and river.
Mercier:
Tony G:
Flop: Tony G: "Look at this!"
Turn:
River: "A boat! The butcher is alive!"
They hugged, and Isabelle shook the hands of all players at the table, but progressed down the hall muttering the expected profanities after having ridden the rollercoaster and come off the tracks at such a late stage.
Daniel Negreanu has 48,000 while Pearljammer is up to 55,000. Jakob Paulsen, who held the lead earlier in the day, has slipped to 100,000.
Johnny Chan: "Only tournament leaders are allowed over here. You're still leading, aren't you Gus?"
Gus Hansen: "Yeah, I am, but Patrik Antonius won a pot and is up to 280,000. He might catch me."
Daniel Negreanu: "Just another European donkey."
Hansen: "Well it's good to see at least one Canadian donkey left in the tournament."
Hee-haw!
Tony G:
Isabelle Mercier:
"I really want to bust you," admits Isabelle, "I really do - even though I love you dearly..."
Flop:
Turn: "Deuce," suggests Mercier...
River:
"The butcher of Baghdad!" shouts Tony G. "I've been waiting for that all night - and there he is!" Pointing to the sword-wielding King and collecting his new large stack.
The very next hand Tony G raised preflop and Isabelle moved in...
"You're on tilt," he said.
"Super tilt," she agreed. He passed.
