No help for his opponent and Brenes swept in the chips saying, "Hunnnngry!"
Chris Bjorin was recently all-in, possibly worried that, although equipped with outs galore, that his was somewhat vulnerable against Jani Sointula with the board reading .
However, Jani was drawing to the flush too, and was probably even more surprised that his were live. But come the river, it was Bjorin who paired up, hitting the academic on the end.
As a result, Jani is down to 11,200 whilst Bjorin jumps up to 19,050.
One who managed to survive the all-in experience just now was Paul Wasicka, doubling to 22k off Mike Mizrachi, who gave him a spin holding to Wasicka's . The board when all the money crossed the line was, however, and being 10k wasn't going to put Mizrachi into the danger zone just yet.
Not surviving this level was David Williams - he was already halfway out the door, having mucked his hand without showing on a board before his opponent even turned over his for the straight. The opponent was Joe Serock, adding to his already impressive stack, now at 61,800. "He's a machine," comments his neighbour.
I spotted the Robin Hood of Poker robbing the rich in an attempt to help save the poor. On a board of , with about 8,500 in the pot, Guillermo Garcia checked. Barry Greenstein nonchalantly tossed out an orange chip for a 5,000 bet. Garcia called and Greenstein showed . Garcia mucked and Greenstein dragged the pot.
Greenstein increased his stack to 33,000. If you don't know, Greenstein donates a percentage of his tournament winnings to various charities such as Children, Inc.
A true professional, Liz may be down, but she's certainly not out. She was smiling and listening to her iPod again within minutes of having those aces cracked.
Paul 'Actionjack' Jackson, who's yet to set the tournament on fire with just 13,700, bumped into me during the break to retell his tales of woe...
"I haven't really played many big pots," said Paul. "Just this one against Matthew Hankins where I limped with . The flop came , he bet 200 from the small blind, I raised to 500 and he called. The turn came a giving me top two pair, but putting a possible flush out there. He checked, I bet 500 and he made it 1,500 to play. I sensed a flush draw, but called hoping to fill up if I was right. The river was a , pairing the board and making it four clubs in total. He checked rather dejectedly, so I thought I could take it away from him by betting out 2,500. He thought and thought for ages before calling with the King rag suited for the second nut flush, but I think that was at the very parameter of his calling boundaries."
Alex Kim was shortstacked and just busted out.
Humbeeeeeeeertooooo has just doubled up with a pair of Kings against Ace Jack. No idea how it went down, he just told us in Costa Rican.
Very happy man indeed, as always
