Zappia Rising Up the Leaderboard

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Nathan Zappia
Nathan Zappia

Catching action on the flop of {Q-Spades}{J-Clubs}{7-Clubs}, Peter Aristidou was first to act. He put out a bet of 3,500 and Nathan Zappia called in position.

The turn was the {K-Clubs} and this time, both players checked. On the {10-Diamonds} river, Aristidou checked it again. Zappia put out a bet of 12,000. Aristidou thought it over for a bit, but eventually called.

Zappia showed down his {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for the nut flush. A frustrated Aristidou turned up his {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} for a straight and muttered something about thinking he had the ace of clubs in his hand.

With that, Zappia took down the big pot and looks to be the chip leader currently in the tournament.

O'Grady Gets Caught Bluffing

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Action was on the river with nearly 25,000 in the pot between Michael O'Grady and one opponent. With the board showing {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, action checked to O'Grady ho was in position. He put out a bet of 15,000 and his opponent dropped into the tank. He thought it over for a bit but eventually called. O'Grady turned up his {9-Spades}{8-Spades} for a bluff with a pair of nines and it was no good as his opponent called with {A-Spades}{J-Spades} for a better two pair with his ace.

Despite dropping the pot O'Grady is still healthy with a stack of nearly 100,000.

Huss Hassan raised under the gun to 3,200 and he found calls from Andy Lee in the cutoff, Sam Higgs on the button and Anju Abrol in the small blind.

The flop was {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and all four players checked. They checked again on the {7-Hearts} turn. On the {K-Spades} river, action checked to Hassan who put out a bet of 4,000. Higgs was the only caller but he mucked when Hassan showed {A-Spades}{7-Spades} for a full house.

Huntly Takes From Argyros

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Gordon Huntly opened with a raise to 1,600 from middle position and Billy Argyros called on the button.

The flop was {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and Huntly continued with a bet of 2,700. Argyros called.

Both players checked on the {J-Clubs} turn and the {6-Spades} river. There, Huntly showed his {10-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for a rivered two pair. Argyros made a face, flashed his {A-Clubs} then mucked, allowing Huntly to take his pot.

Sam Higgs Earns a Double

Level 8 : 300/600, 100 ante
Sam Higgs
Sam Higgs

Sam Higgs opened with a raise to 2,200 and a was called by two players before one player on the button moved all in for just under 30,000. Action folded back to Higgs who called for his stack of 27,875 and everyone else folded, leaving Higgs heads-up for his tournament life.

Sam Higgs: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}
Opponent: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}

Higgs flopped well when it came {Q-Clubs}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds} giving him a set and he faded runnings outs on the {A-Spades} turn and the {K-Spades} river. So with that, Higgs doubled to over 60,000 chips.
