Sammartino Takes One Down on the River

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 15,000 ante

Justas Vaiciulionis raised from the cutoff to 205,000. Valentin Messina called on the button. From the big blind, Dario Sammartino called as well.

On the {8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{8-Hearts} flop, Sammartino checked to Vaiciulionis. Vaiciulionis bet 275,000. Messina folded but Sammartino called.

The turn was the {A-Spades} and both players checked to see the {6-Spades} on the river. Sammartino led out with a bet of 975,000, leaving himself with just 400,000 behind.

"I might have an ace," Vaiciulionis said after a few minutes of thought.

"You have an ace?" Sammartino asked. "I don't have an ace." Eventually, Vaiciulionis decided to fold and that allowed Sammartino to take down the pot.
