Carrel Bombs the River

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

With about 300,000 in the pot on a board reading {k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{5-Clubs}, Charlie Carrel checked from the small blind, as did Sean Gibson in the big blind and Alexander Greenblatt in early position. The turn was the {9-Hearts}. Carrel led out for 200,000, and Gibson called, while Greenblatt quickly got out of the way. The river was the {9-Spades}. Carrel thought for a moment and put out a massive bet worth 900,000. Gibson went into the tank for a good minute but eventually folded.
