Mercier's River Raise Earns Him a Pot

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Jason Mercier

A player opened from middle position with a raise to 2,800. He was called by Jason Mercier in the cutoff, as well as the player in the big blind.

The flop came down {Q-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}, and all three players checked to see the {7-Hearts} on the turn. The big blind checked, and the preflop raiser bet 3,500. Mercier called, and the big blind folded. On the {J-Hearts} river, the bettor bet 6,300. Mercier thought for a while, asked the player to move his hands to see his stack, then raised, making it 25,100.

His opponent thought for a long time, then decided to fold, and Mercier was able to take down the pot without a showdown.
