Event #70: $10,000 Ladies No-Limit Hold'em Championship
Day 2 Started
The final 85 ladies return to Miranda at 12 p.m. today for Day 2 of Event #70: $10,000 Ladies No-Limit Hold’em Championship (with a $9,000 discount for women). The 718 entries generated a prize pool of $646,200. The champion this year will receive $135,098 to go with the WSOP gold bracelet.
Parm Mehmi is the chip leader to start the day with 120,000 chips. Mehmi finished in fifth place in the 2015 Ladies Event and is surely looking to improve on that finish this year.
Rounding out the top five stacks are Deborah Worley-Roberts (114,900), Katie Ansorge (114,800), Amanda Sizemore (107,500), who finished third in the 2015 Ladies Event, and Kristen Deardorff (104,300). Three-time bracelet winner Vanessa Selbst begins Day 2 sixth in chips with 94,800, in position to battle for bracelet number four.
Some other notables still in the running are Oanh Bui (92,700), Heidi May (74,400), Lynn Gilmartin (71,500), Julie Cornelius (63,900), last year's runner-up Mandy Baker (56,000), and Na Young Kim (47,000).
With the fall of Courtney Kennedy, Jacqueline Scott, and Haixia Zhang yesterday before the money was reached, there will be a new Ladies Event champion this year.
Day 2 will include 10.5 more levels of play with 15-minute breaks every two levels and a one-hour dinner break after the sixth level, or around 6:30 p.m. All 85 returning players are in the money, guaranteed at least $1,605.
Be sure to keep it here at PokerNews.com as we provide updates through the event's conclusion on Sunday.
