Volpe Rips It In

Level 21 : 80,000/160,000, 0 ante

Pot-Limit Omaha

Ivo Donev limped in from the small blind. Paul Volpe checked his option from the big.

On the {a-Spades}{9-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop, Donev tried to bet 200,000 but pot was only 80,000, so he bet 80,000. Volpe called.

The turn was the {5-Hearts} and Donev again tried to bet more than pot, making it 300,000 when pot was only 230,000. Volpe then decided to pot it, making it 960,000 to play and leaving himself with 125,000 behind.

Donev let out a heavy sigh. "Whew," he said, leaning back in his chair and putting his hands behind his head. "You make the straight?"

He thought for another 30 seconds before releasing his hand. "Ah, OK," h said. "Nice hand."

Volpe slid his hand in as well and collected the pot, allowing him to increase his stack with no showdown.
