Jason Mercier Eliminated in 17th Place ($13,807)

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier

Yanki Koppel raised to 37,000 from under the gun and the action was folded to Jason Mercier in the small blind who shoved all in for 197,000. Koppel quickly called and rolled over {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}. Mercier showed {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} and would need some help to stay alive.

The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and Mercier was unable to connect, getting eliminated in 17th place.

Samuel Phillips Scoops a Big One

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

On a board reading {6-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} with about 500,000 in the pot already, Samuel Phillips led out for 200,000 from middle position. Milan Simko was in the hijack and thought for a minute before folding. Scott Horvath was in the cutoff and wasted no time, sliding two stacks of chips forward to call.

Phillips tabled {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds} for two pair, aces and fives, with a king kicker, and Horvath flashed {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts} to show he'd been out-kicked to lose the pot.
