Mike Linster Defeats Cantu in a Cooler Hand

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Mike Linster

Mike Linster has been busy early in Day 2, building a chip stack up to nearly 200,000. Most of it came from the early chip leader in Brandon Cantu as he slid down to around 160,000 chips. Then the two players played a monster pot with each other.

Linster opened the pot with a raise and Cantu looked down at two face cards and three-bet to 15,000, saying afterward he did not know what they were at the time. Linster made a four-bet to 46,500, forcing Cantu to now look at which face cards were in his hand. After taking a full look at his cards and giving some thought to his next move, Cantu shipped all in for around 162,000. Linster instantly called, tabling {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} while Cantu rolled over {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}.

The flop was {a-Hearts}{9-Spades}{3-Hearts} and Cantu was nearly drawing dead. The {4-Clubs} on the turn sealed the deal and the {5-Hearts} on the river completed the board. Linster eliminated Cantu and took over the chip lead with over 350,000 now.
