Mike Leah Dominating Early On

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

With the flop reading {Q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and around 1,500 in the pot, the big blind checked and Mike Leah bet 750. His opponent raised to 2,000 and Leah called.

The turn was the {Q-Hearts}. Again his opponent checked and Leah bet 1,500. His opponent check-raised for a second time to 4,600. Leah called.

The river was the {9-Clubs} and for the third time, his opponent checked. Leah pushed enough chips in the middle to cover his opponent, who finally laid his hand down.

Mike Leah is one of the more notable players from Canada, coming into the 2017 WSOP with over $5.8 million in live tournament earnings. He is quickly building a big stack and even Kristen Bicknell, who is sitting across the table from him, said "I think you're going to have a fun day."

Moorman Collects the Side Pot

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

The board read {10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and there was already a player all in with the main pot having nearly 6,000 in it. Chris Moorman bet 2,600 from the small blind and his remaining opponent moved all in for 9,500. Moorman thought for a couple moments before sticking out the chips to call.

Moorman had {10-Spades}{8-Diamonds} versus his opponent's {A-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}. The river landed the {5-Diamonds} and Moorman was able to take down the side pot. Meanwhile his other opponent who was all in for the main pot showed {10-Hearts}{7-Clubs} for two pair to take down a smaller main pot.

Cream Rises to the Top

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Matt Stout
Matt Stout

Even though there are over 2,700 entries in Event #5A, there are many notables rising to the top of the leaderboard. Most recently Matt Stout has been building himself a healthy stack.

Just now Stout was in a hand in which his opponent raised from early position to 1,500 and Stout three-bet to 4,000 directly to his left. Everyone else folded and the action was back on the initial raiser. He chose to call and they were heads-up to the flop. The dealer fanned a board of {7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{2-Spades} and the action was checked to Stout, who bet 3,200. His opponent folded and Stout stacked his chips quickly before heading on break.

Here is a look at some other notables that have built chip stacks throughout the day.
