Perez Climbs Back from the Grave

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Hugo Perez lost a monster pot earlier in the day with pocket queens versus ace-king in the classic race scenario. After losing that pot, Perez was down to only 400 chips — two big blinds. He was able to triple up from that stack with {K-}{9-} on an {A-}{Q-}{5-}{3-}{2-} board and, since then, Perez has been smooth sailing grinding his stack back up to a reasonable 26,000.

Perez was known for being the top player in Peru in terms of live tournament earnings with over $500,000 but was recently passed by one of his fellow countrymen. He is now back at the 2017 WSOP looking to regain that honour, and there is no better tournament to score a big cash in than the Colossus.
