Hold'em

Ryan Himes opened from the cutoff and Matthew Schreiber defended his big blind. The flop was {A-Spades}{9-Spades}{3-Spades}, and Schreiber checked. Himes bet, Schreiber check-raised, Himes put in three bets, and Schreiber called.

On the {10-Clubs} turn, Schreiber check-called another bet from Himes. The river paired the board with the {9-Diamonds}, and Schreiber led out. Himes called and got shown the bad news by Schreiber, who held {K-Spades}{9-Clubs}. Himes open-folded {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades} and was left with just 90,000.

In the next hand, Himes went all in from under the gun, and Phil Hui called from the big blind.

Himes: {Q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}
Hui: {A-Clubs}{4-Hearts}

The {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{5-Spades} flop all but sealed it, and the {8-Diamonds} on the turn decided it, making the {10-Spades} river meaningless. Himes added a big five-figure payday of $52,542 to his bankroll for his fifth-place finish.
