Kerry Goldberg Leads Event #35: $1,000 Super Seniors No-Limit Hold'em
It's time for everyone to get some rest as Day 2 of Event #35: $1,000 Super Seniors No-Limit Hold'Em has come to an end. Kerry Goldberg leads the remaining 22 players into the final day with 1,224,000 chips. Earl Hirakawa ran up a stack earlier in the day and coasted to the finish with 728,000 chips. Darrell Ticehurst also bagged a healthy stack, rounding out the top three, with 716,000 chips.
Goldberg has cashed in three WSOP events in his poker career, including last year in this same event where he finished in 91st place. Goldberg will be looking for his largest live tournament cash and to add to his $56,000 career tournament earnings. He came into the day with an average chip stack and finished the day as the only player over 1,000,000 chips. Goldberg won a big hand in the last level when he made a set of nines against his opponent's top two pair.
Also still in the mix is the defending champion of this event, James Moore, who bagged 559,000 and will enter the day fifth in chips. Moore topped a field of more than 1,000 last year to walk away with $230,626. He'll have his eyes set on a repeat performance on Tuesday.
The final 22 players will return on Tuesday at 11 a.m. local time to compete for the WSOP gold bracelet and the $259,230 first place prize. They will play another 30 minutes of level 21 with the blinds at 6,000/12,000 with a 2,000 ante and then 60-minute levels until a winner is crowned.
